Should i have played god |
|
I was working down the shed this morning and watched a moth fly towards the window which was slightly open. After it had flapped against the middle of the window it started toward the opening and as it reached the edged of the glass it got caught up in a spiders web.
Should i have saved the moth and done the spider out of a meal or not interfear at all

This has happened to me before. I rescued a few bugs from the clutches of a spider only to be bothered by the same question. Was it my place to interfere in the natural order of things? Does the bug actually care? Would he have felt any pain. Is the spider pissed off now? Do I have to watch my back all the time now 'cause some pissed spider is running around with a resentment and need for payback

lol, i would only mess with the spider if it were inside my house.
if its outside then the spider can feast on annoying bugs all he wants.

There is some byword in Poland:
"szczęśliwy ten dom, gdzie pająki są".
It's mean about: ~happy that home where spiders are~.

My home must be ecstatic - harming spiders is forbidden in this house. I never was the same after reading Charlotte's Web as a kid.

Don't worry about bugs feeling pain, spiders have some sort of thingy that numbs the bug they're about to eat so it doesn't feel any pain. If you don't let spiders eat their prey, they'll be after you
So make sure you throw them out and lock the house

Also dont forget the 3 or 4 spiders that you yourself eat every year. This is how many crawl into our open mouths while asleep.. down out throats and into our stomach, where the digestion progress happens regardless... (as a vegetarian i try to sleep with my mouth closed )
As a result i dont think we should harm any animals at all, including spiders or flies. The ideal situation in this case would to just let nature take its only way. If the fly was dumb enough to get caught in a web, then it would not have passed on anything good to its offspring, and the whole fly race would have suffered slightly A clever fly, would not have been tricked!!

This, im afraid babe, is not true.

Nervous system
The central nervous system of a spider is in the cephalothorax. It includes the brain, which is connected to a large group of nerve cells called the gandlion. Nerve fibers from the brain and gandlion run throughout a spider's body. The nerve fibers carry information to the brain from sense organs on the head, legs, and other parts of the body. The brain can also send signals through the nerve fibers to control the activities of the body. |
I.E it can feel pain as any human could!

well... i dropped the ball there..
Reading through wikipedia however, says that a spider can "inject neurotoxins that can spread through the prey's entire body and interfere with vital body functions". Nothing about the prey feeling no pain, infact, if your vital oragns were shutting down you would feel immense pain
