Epigastric Hernia...Hooray! Subject description: 4 years and counting! |
|
So, I have this lump in my abdomen. In fact, I've had it for over four years now. I got it checked out in 2004 and was told, 'it's just a lump of fat, a lipoma. You can get it removed if you want for cosmetic reasons.'
I bodybuild. Some may know that here. Not competitively, but it's a hobby of mine and I'm a former personal trainer as well. SO, when I'm at the beach, it sucks to have a 'seven pack'. The abs plus the gumball sized lump between them!
Well, I finally decided to have a surgeon take a look and he tells me 'it's an epigastric hernia. You'll need surgery, but not to remove it like a lipoma, you'll need 6 weeks of rest.'
Damn! No gym, training?!
I'm going to make the best of it and play LOTS of HL2DM!
It is a bummer to lose bodyweight and strength, but it's for the best. I'm not in ANY pain, only occasional irritation that's it. But once it's done, I'm back under the iron! LOL
Thanks for reading and letting me vent/share with all of you.
DN

Well, it will undo some and set me back on time. After the 6 weeks off (I can walk on the treadmill though for the 6 weeks) I still have to go about 6-8 weeks before I can actually push it at all so I don't reopen the wound inside. I'll just spend my time planning my meteoric rise from the ashes like the Phoenix! LMAO!
