hey fellas, i need a lil help here [UPDATE!!!!!] Subject description: its kinda urgent, please. |
|
okay so im ordering my pre-ordering my hardware
in about 3 months there will be alot of kick ass hardware avaiable.. but i have to order this stuff now..
kinda because 3 days ago was my birthday.. and.. ya know :p
So. heres what im thinking of ordering.
Quote: |
GFX: XFX GeForce 8800 Ultra
CPU: Intel core 2 Duo E6850 (w/35% OC)
RAM: MUSHKIN KIT 2GB DDR2 @ 1066MHZ
PSU: LC-POWER Arkangel 850W
Disco: 2x Western Digital 250GB SATA II 16MB
Monitor: Samsung SYNCMASTER 931B 19" (2ms)
Motherboard: EVGA nForce 680i SLI NVIDIA Socket 775 |
Okay so, the stuff in bold is what im doubting about
i might want to do a 30/35% overclock so what do you guys think of a Intel E6850? Its very good for overclocking and if a E6600 + the Ultra can score 185 fps in DOD: Source i can imagine an overclocked E6850!
Also the motherboard.. the motherboard. the motherboard..
EVGA nForce 680i SLI NVIDIA Socket 775
So this will be the computer i will be using for a while
as for RAM
I will upgrade to 4GB when i see that vista fully supports DX9/10 and HL2 without a single fps drop.
Vista ultimate 64Bit of course! First! let us try the XP's Service Pack 3!
TO THE SERVERS!
Oh wait.. i forgot something.. This is VERY important for those that use Windows Vista and are having trouble with HL2 and DX10 cards
http://techzonept.com/showthread.php?t=185792
ITS FINALY FIXED! (read the details in that thread)
now where was i? oh. yes.
TO THE SERVERS!

i have the synchmaster 205 bw, 20 inch, wide screen 5 ms.
price difference with 19 inch was almost none at the time, 6 months ago, and nobody can spot a 3 ms difference.
im very happy with it, play HL2DM on 1680 * 1050 with no probs.

Happy birthday Breen I dont think that mobo is water cooled. If you're referring to the heat spreader and pipe running between the northbridge and southbridge, I think it is just a unique design.

I thought you said Intel sucks?
Yes, the right processor and the right price.
Now, I have a core 2 duo 2.13g with the 1066mz fsb. I did the system on a tight budget about 6 months ago when DX10 did not exist.
With this in mind, I chose a 7600GS 512k Nvidia card.
In game, I turn in an average 200 fps.
I have not checked the mobo spec but I hope it will take the 1333 fsb. mine does not. Also, it should be able take a quad core. (mine does).
Enjoy and do not worry about over clocking. If the system you have now is what you say it is, welcome to the 21st century on the upgrade.

The native and mostly used resolution makes the fps difference. 1024*768 (for example) will come out at the same fps on 19", 21", 24" and so on.
You must check for the native monitor resolution in order to get a clear graphic and your graphic card must be capable to handle this resolution then.
Every other resolution then the native one needs to get interpolated and will be followed by decreased quality.
You theoretical could use 1024*768 with an 30" Apple Cinema Display but its just not supposed to run at such low resolution because standard is 2560 x 1600 Pixel.
