Error message problem |
|
Hello, well after I installed the newest vista service pack 2 I get this lovely error poping up. (Attachment)
I can't see any effects it does apart from minimizes my games when it feels like poping up now and again.
Any ideas how to fix?

I get this message when the pc starts up, and if I close it etc it comes back at ramdom times. I think in none steam games it would just minimize to desktop like in steam games.

somethings trying to convert a string (Alpha numeric) to a Double (Floating number) causing a conflict, its impossible to do. I was going to hazard a guess at the Steam UI when in games but if its at startup then maybe some other program, guessing from the string they return (<!DOCTYPE> etc etc thats the start of a standard webpage) its something internet based. If you check the source of the TSGK forum it starts with the same thing -
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
Could just be a microsoft fuck up, i could be chatting crap i know nothing about
One way to track the source of the problem is to disable each startup program one by one until it no longer starts up with that message, then you know you found the problem program. IF that don't get rid of it then it is probably a microsoft fuck up.

Hmm. Could be a lot of things, including a trojan. Do a full scan.
Otherwise, try booting up in safe mode - if no probs in boot mode then at least you'll know it's not OS based but probably a third party application loading at startup. Then it's down to finding the guilty application.
