OK - so maybe this is the wrong forum. But the only other forums that I regularly contribut to are DOH. And God knows they would only take the complete piss out of me in a manner that will convince me to join in and also take the piss out of myself. Besides - they only shop in Oxfam.

So. I was looking for 2 cabinets to fit narrow alcoves in my living room. Had to be thin, a certain height and dark wood. One to hold books the other to hold av equipment.

So I go into Laura Ashley, a place I normally would pass by as their stuff looks like twee. But they have two cabinets, perfect for my purpose. On sale. Still to expensive for what you get but as I said I was looking for them for a while.

So I say - hi, I'll buy them
They say - fine, you realise that you will be buying the items that are on display?
I say - oh, um, ok
They say, fine - you realise that you have to arrange delivery yourself
I say - oh, ummm...., ok I guess
They say - fine, you realise that you will have to await until end Jan when we will have replacement stock
I say - youre kidding
They say - no
I say... ok....
They say so pay now in full
I say - no way!
They say yes
I say - no, couldnt be. If I pay in full now then they are my property and I can take them when I want. They say no. I say thats the law. They say in that case they can choose not to sell it to me.
I say that is a strange way to get customers....
I say - ok how about a reasonable deposit
They say no
I say well what about a post dated cheque
They say no
I say (in angry tones) - Look - what kind of crazy business is this. I pay in full and have to wait at your convenience. In the meantime it's getting shop soiled and you could go out of business and I lose my property... you seroius?
They say yes
I say bb

Really. Larua Ashley. WTF!!!! This is a typical customer experience in this country!!!! Arrgh

They havent heard the last of this.

Either a phone call to customer services and each time you get hold of some one ask to speak to there manager, the higher up you go the more chance of getting the items
or

pay for the items, smash em with a large hammer and remind them that its your property and that there to keep it on display as the terms of the agreement to sell Twisted Evil
