PostPosted: Wed Oct 31, 2007 20:42    Post subject:  The Horror of walking 7 miles
Subject description: A breathe taking story from DrBreen

School ended today. At 17:15 (5:15 in the afternoon) my dad forgot to pick me up from school, and i had to walk 7 miles (not kilometers) to get here.

I tought i could do it easily, but there were numerous factors that delayed the unexpected trip

I had uncomfortable shoes, it was cold and i have flu, scary cars, backpack with 5kg of books..

everything was nice and cool untill the 4th mile, after that it was already sunset, i could barely see the cars coming, and i had to struggle to not fall off the road, and balence so i didnt get hit by a car, it was really scary that stage.. there was no sideway, only the water things.. and when i corssed the road to run away from big trucks, i lose so much energy i could barely walk for the next 10 minutes, a bit later my feet were tired, it started to hurt really bad, something was wrong, so i stoped for a minute or 2. it hurted. it hurted alot when i steped on something hard like a small rock...

im too tired to bitch, to spam, to play games, to even type this, so ill make it short:

Consequences:

- Backache
- Headache from noise of the cars
- Coldbug (flu)
- Sore feet
- Paranoid, you start to thuink every car will run over you and start getting dizzy
- Extremely tired, had a history exam and P.E. 2 hours before
- couldn't go to the gym, by the time i came it would be closed
- couldn't feel my left foot

Bye.

good to hear you made it home despite your flu and tiredness. It sounds like you went thru quite the ninja-training experience. It probably wouldn't have been so bad for you if you had a sidewalk and it didn't get dark.

Hope you feel better tomorrow.

I fully understand your pain if you are not used to something like that but you'll walk much more and carry even more weight (30 km with ~25 kg backpack + weapon) in army someday. Wink

I can certainly sympathise.. i have to walk around the same distance everyday to my school (although around 2.5miles there and back +walking around very big school Oo) with my bag full of A-level work, textbooks, folders etc etc.. needless to say its quite heavy.
When i feel ill, this task really does suck, although i guess i am kinda used to the distance walking everyday.

Cheer up breen, it could be worse, you could have to do it again tomorrow Razz

n_n

I do 30 kilometres by bike every day (15 to school and 15 from school) with a bag on my back that is usually around 11 kilos. No kidding, if I have to continue like this there will be no back left at the age of 30 Very Happy

But I know the pain you feel. it would hurt me too if I had to do those 11 kms you did by foot ^^ luckily for you tit didn't rain.

At least you can make your dad feel bad Wink

A long time ago when I was young sigh I spent my bus fair on sweets at the local swimming pool and had to walk home .
I started to walk home along the sea front anyway I got trapped by the tide and had to sit on a ledge on the cliff face for 6 hours anyway at least you got home safe .

Considering your preexisting medical condition, I'd question your dad's recent transactions (if any) with a life insurance provider.

Sorry to hear that, feel better!
