HL2DM vs CSS. Which game requires more skill? |
|
Alright there are obviously going to be bias views on this forum for obvious reasons but here we go!
Scenario:
The very best HL2DM player played against the very best CSS player.
2 rounds.. 1 round in each game. Who would win?
Ok Ok OKOOK .. I know what you're going to say.. you can't compare those two games because in hl2dm you can have 1v1 games and css is more about team battle bla bla bla .. ....
I am just looking for an OVERALL opinion on which game you think requires more skill.
ps. I own counterstrike source TWICE .. however i have played it probably less then 3 hours ever! HAHAHA

The CSS player is restricted by movement. He will play Hl2dm and get confused that there is freedom, he can jump move shoot and it all counts.
The Hl2dm player is not restricted in movement. He will play CSS and hate his life for the slow pace of the game. He wont be able to get any shots in.
So over all I think the CSS player will fair out better than a HL2dm player as CSS needs alot of time to get used to the randomness introduced with aim randomization.

HL2DM is much faster then CSS, I think the DM player would own the CSS player.

if the most kills win.. .. .. the hl player of course
he would be able to kill the css player a few times in css but the css player in
hl2dm wouldnt see any blood.. only his own

I have a friend who plays in the esl and he is a real pro. when we play hl2dm I pwn him, and I´m miles away from being anything near pro. when we play css he pwns me, always getting headshots and me only getting him with ultraluckshots 2 times a round. we both appear as total noobs in both games. he actually played hl2dm for some time (when it came out) while I have about 10 hours or so of css experience. so I´d say it would end up in a draw. its like you said, you can´t compare these games. its like driving a car and driving a boat. a car racer would win the car race, the boat racer would win the boat race.
In my opinion CSS requires a lot more skill than hl2dm. I remember my first hours of hl2dm. I would go on a server with dm_killbox_tsgk_v6 and end up being 1. or 2. with only using the smg and a bit of shotgun and ar2, I still wonder how that was possible. not so in css, I could speak of great luck if I could get someone killed there.

Yes, I have played CS for many years, and a guy gets used to it.
but you guys are correct
I made a 1on1 with Vercetti (friend of mine and Cynyx) and when the 1on1 was over i asked Cynyx's opinion (btw this was 2 days after i got HL2 back) and he said i had CS skill, that i plaeyd tacticaly and was slower
he said if i was faster i would be very good
you see my problem?

Also CS 1.6 and CS are totaly diferent, they have diferent gameplay mechanics, which makes a CS16 player suck in CSS, thast why the majority of CS community has CSS, because they suck on it.
The Aim is very diferent in HL2, most of the times you get a headshot, is luck, at least, when i get low framerates

2 V.Different beasts, I think HL2 is harder to learn than CS:S because there is just soo much to learn in the game (Weapon tricks, map tricks, movement, etc) which you dont really get in CS:S.

CSS has no tricks, but you learn alot more than in HL2

Most CSS players in DM are easy to take down because as someone points out there is a heck of a difference in movement.
That said, I am always impressed by the aim of a good CSS player that comes into DM.
CSS and DM can be played by good players either way but ultimately knowledge of maps and tactics and gameplay will always mean the player of that game (assuming they are reasonably good at it) will win.
So basically a draw for me.

Yes, my movement is slow, not fast enought for HL, but extremely fast for CS
i think everon ismissing the point of playing HL2DM in teamplay.. there is no teamplay in Killbox maps, if you think of it
the BEST TDM map in the world is dm_overwatch, why you ask? because it has a goal
You have to take over the roof, if you take over the roof you have full control of the map, this is only fun when everyone uses RPG & SMG and all the other guns everyone used to bitch about, its really fun
I think Fraggies and TSGK should have a match like this, would be really fun (BECAUSE ITS TACTICAL)
