DM v Team DM |
|
While i'm looking for a server to play on, i usually scan through the number of players on each server.
Why are the team DM servers usually have more players. Personally i prefer DM as its my skill (or not) against the rest of the players. I find the team games slightly more anoying after playing DM as i used to killing any thing that moves and not trying to work out if there on my team or not first.
What do you prefer and why

When I played first I only played TDM. Probably because I was crap and I thought there was a team spirit thing going on.
Now it's mostly DM only. But recently I've tried playing TDM especially where FF is on. It can make you a more accurate player. I also like burning team mates who kill me.

teamplay,
I find it better for the simple reason that there are less players to kill. Those who play with me know that i hate packed servers, you will never find me on server1 when its full
TDM is better practice because you have to recognise who is your enemy and who is not. Also, it is more strategy based, expessially in clan matches.

I think they're both good- DM for working on survival skills and TDM for some co-operation between players, though it is annoying when people steal your kills. TDM is good when you are wandering around and bump into the entire enemy team (or so it seems). Hilarity ensues and +100 to your ego if you manage to take them all out.
I guess a lot of people initially go to the TDM servers because they know only half of the players are out to get them.

I'm fond of playing with 4 or 5 skilled guys on a killbox in a DM. TDM are great when these are clan fight.

TDM is pointless unless its a clan fight. Trying to team up and play team tactics with strangers is just a waste of time. All it does is half then number of targets in a game.

Not quite. Because I spend so much time on DM I found I shot anything that moves in a clan match. So a bit of TDM is useful before hand.

in my opinion it is very hard to use some tactics in a TDM game.
i guess real tactics require a lot of planning and an excellent knowledge of the map you are playing, because u have to cover a lot of things which u cant really predict. For example, if u are moving in a group of 2 people, what do u do if one of them gets killed?? do u continue walking, do u wait for him, where do u wait for him?? lol
i tried a several times to play with real tactics with my brother, but it never worked very well. at the end we ended up playing almost like in a normal dm game.
thats why i think that tdm is only not pointless if u know how to use real tactics, the problem ist that this is very hard!
the only advantage of tdm is that there are some friendly players who can help u killing someone (one with ar2, one with 357 for example...)
although, if u have a good team, tdm can be great

i remember the 2v2 b4 i joined TSGK against PikPik and Killa, they owned ma ass n my Tm, so skill (lots of b000m HS lol) and tactics come into good TDM.
Public servers though, no point, only real use i ever found for it is someone watching ma back while i noob the recharger on dm_lockdown , its fun to have a 3v1 on a killbox and still own them, its quite funny to hear the m(*(&!!! CHEATER insults fly

I tend to just stick to Death Match. I don't think Half Life 2 is suited to casual/semi-casual TDM because the game moves so fast, and there's no player classes or vehicles. Not to mention the lack of objective based maps. Unless you're using voice communication and/or with people you play with often things are destined to just be chaos. About the only team strategy I ever see is several people holding the top of the building in overwatch to keep control of the rocket launcher.
I love a good team based game, I played Desert Combat forever, but that was a game built to force at least some modicum of cooperation from anyone with half a brain.

I used to love TDM, and started playing the mod www.hl2ctf.com but it got to the point where I found i'm self swaring at my monitor, banging my mouse of the desk and generally annoying the misses when players would block me or get in my way
TDM is far more fun with FF on, as it makes you think more! just a shame not many other people realise lobbing a exploding barrel into a large group of people in a fire fight isn't a good idea
I guess everyone starts on TDM and moves to DM (By far the more fun and challenging!)

TDM in public servers is terrible. There is nothing more frustrating than idiots getting in my way. Friendly fire, lol, good thing I live in America and don't have to deal with that shit.,
However, I will take an organized clan match over a 1vs1 any day.

Im 100% agree ! FF simply sucks. It's a stupid way to add the possibility to frag our own teamates and we can't use some weapons when we want : Balls ,Grenade, Rpg, some physics :/ OMG, for me FF simply kill the game and the fun.

I invariable play on our 2v2 TDM server (24 x7 Lockdown) I do get the urge to play a killbox now and again, but find after a few maps, I need to return to the reletive tranquility of the 2v2 server. Like Sarge, I wont join a full killbox server, it's just too manic for me.

I prefer DM only cuz of the frag scoring
But TDM trains reaction and skill to use the weapons when needed such as orbs rpg nades and etc.
TDM is fun too i like to kill my team mates "by accident" xD wit 357 in the head or jsut to kill

Some players I find are better suited to certain DM maps when full, I love it when I find a Full Donut or Domebox Server and will happily frag away all day in it. I can only handle a couple rounds of dm_killbox (One with big room in middle) cus I can't play it very well, However u look @ other players and they will own it regardless of how many players there are.
I really don't mind though TDM or DM is good for me, ass long as Im frgging someone.

both are different flavors of something made from the same raw material.
DM is all out paranoia shoot anything that moves game. good for when someone is hyper and crazy or just plain high on pepsi.
TDM is like eating a nice slow meal. It's tactical, you put your hands in your team mates shooting ability and if you play with people who understand how you play, it could be intense fun. Oh yeah and you can double team people without worrying about getting kicked out of the server.
lol lasty, the usual aim when playing tdm is to finish the game, while having all the opponents team with a kpd less that 1. it looks so funny.
but yeah tdm on beuz is intense! always fun.
in conclusion, i love both. just different moods require different games.
