Hi Capt
Shame that we couldn't have had the tryout on saturday (tech problems, thanks steam). Looked out for you sunday, had several good games as a warm up but a paths didn't cross. Looking forward to a 1v1 sometime this week, hoping it can be early evening as this is my best time.

Update - Just had 2nd tryout
As you may guess from the lack of a post from Capt or Osi that i didn't pass.
Was playing a quick game after finishing work, with 3 mins to go, the wife was nagging me about making tea . Anyway much to her annoyance i finished the game, then disconeected and found a steam friend message from Capt Pikpik to join him. After a few quick and heated words from SWMBO i was allowed to have my tryout
I had improved a bit, more kills and less being killed.
The worse thing about tryouts is the fact that you feel like a virgin on his wedding night, all thumbs on her dress buttons.
My main weakness is speed, i move around fairly well in a busy server. But when a 1v1 i seem to focus on the attack and forget about the speed.
Hope to be posting soon Capt when ive improved a bit and with more practise i'll be back with a vengence. You haven't put me off yet

Thanks for the encouragment Batman.
But i've just had a major set back
I have taken up the kind offer of maeggs to teach me and the first thing he wanted to work on was speed. After downloading and watching the bunnyhop vid from hl2 university we went onto a server and tried this.
Here's the major problem, i use the arrows keys for movement and i have all my weapons arranged around this, but to bunny hop i have found it impossible to jump, crouch, sprint, forward key and a strafe key using my configeration of keys. Therefore after about 17 yrs of FPS starting from the original Doom played from Dos (before Windows) i have used the arrow keys. I will now have to learn the most basic movement using aswd and learning new weapon layout. After 1 hr of hardly moving at any speed we went onto ptrain and even sprint jump crouch is hard let alone adding strafe.
I think my next tryout will be a few weeks away, but hopefully by then i will be just a blur round the killbox and less of a snail target for capt pikpik to aim for at leisure

I totally relate to Sniperborg, back when Quake 3 was out i used to play with the arrow keys, then one day i woke up and said time to go wasd and never looked back since, Borg the transition will feel a bit alien but you get more keys and more skill the more you use wasd. Trust me it's the way to go
good luck with that my friend.
p.s. The Batman is a real vampire bat, he will steal ur blood

I say bad idea this late in the game but not that bad because like meekle told me it only takes a couple hours to learn a new button config.
PS I still use the arrow keys and have full movement (speed skating, strafe jump etc)

So what is your main key layout for jump sprint and crouch?

Just tried it. My what big hands you've got Controller Boy. Then again you could have a fancy curved keyboard.
Tried to configure my mouse to do the move, it would need a lot more than the five buttons it has. Mind you if it could be done, it would leave one hand free for drinking beer

Mine is very similar to yours..
I use arrow keys for movement with sprint as shift and crouch as ctrl. I have jump set as mousewheel (mouse3 button). For weapon changing, i have ggun as the 0 button just to the right of the arrows and stunstick as the 1.
For other weapons i use mousewheel because i find this easier. It is very easy for me to keep track of what weapons i have and how many mouse rolls to that weapon (e.g from ggun nade it is 2 or 3 rolls forward )

there is an accessory for hiding all windows with a foot pedal. maybe you can configure it to be a button and it can be jump or crouch.
I play with wasd but here is a suggestion for arrow movement:
right ctrl: jump
downarrow: crouch
mouse side button: sprint
numpad0: go back

I would be interested to see your use of the jump on the space bar. My keyboard has a menu button next to Ctrl, then Alt Ctrl and then the space bar. I can only just reach the space bar with the tip of my little finger and then find it hard to reach the right arrow key. Are you a goal Keeper for some football team
After quite a bit of practise i can now complete Ptrain on grav 400, but in game i keep loosing some of the keys espcially the gg. At the moment im trying to play on large killboxes as you seem to have a bit more time/leeway but i will be back on server 1 sson i hope.

like I said I play with wasd not with the arrows so I can press it easily with my thumb.

Ty Ghostdog, are the higpunch and high kick made up as i haven't seen them in my options?
Riches to rags and back again story
While i was trying to learn my new keyboard layout yesterday, i was avoiding playing on TSGK servers as i didn't want to mess my stats (idiot) so i was playing on the KC servers when i got a message from a freind to join him. Not wanting to turn down a request from a friend i joined in. I went down from 11600 points to 5900 in about 5 games as there was a lot of newer players there and i was playing cr*p. After a longish break where i reviewed my layout of my weapon keys i made a couple of adjustments and then carried on playing. After serval games i took the plunge and headed back to server I to get my points back, ty guys and lady you all donated nicely and i was back to 10k by the evening.
I'm now working on learning the bunny hop so now doubt i will need donations from server I from time to time

there is no minimum points needed to join, so you donīt have to concentrate so hard to keep them up. I know how it feels with points in the beginning, but at some time you will also not care anymore.

I'm just getting to that point. When you can loose 4k and get back in a day really doen't make them worth worrying about. But i do like to keep in the top 500 just so my sig/posts on this forum look good
