Several people played a stickfight-only match the other night, and the end result of that for me was a score of 15000 pts. So I decided to play for points for a couple of days. I peaked at about 16500 pts, at a rank of 41. But while I was doing this, I was actually playing much worse in terms of kpd.

I just played a few games involving only good players who were smacking me down when I tried to stick them, so that dropped my rank down to its current level, but the fact remains that it stabilized much higher than normal because I was attempting to use the stick whenever possible, regardless of the fact that I was getting a kpd sometimes as low as .5.

I guess kpd is mostly a measure of the skill level of the people playing with you, but I decided to just see what would happen if kpd was put more directly into rank.

hmmmm ... general KPD says nothing about skills of a player because kpd depends of players play with you. Play with newbies : kpd = 5, play with TSGK members and your kpd will be < 1 if you are an average player. A lot of players leave the game when skilled players are joining and/or beginning to dominate to keep their points or keep a very good kpd. (i think it's the bad way to progress......)

rank and skill are there to get point and rank hungry players playing. we all noticed how everyone stopped playing when the new points system came and everyone was loosing points. so its just to get more players,but thats just my point of view on this.

KPD = Skill

yeah, if i play for points, i usualy get more than 6000 the same day

if i play for kpd, i get 500 to 9000 points max :-\

I'm trying a flavor of load balancing- stick the guys worth less points, and shoot the guys worth more points.
My KpD doesn't suffer, and I still get points.

Talking openly about the rank vs. skill system helps us improve on ranking. Now whether that matters to us or not is different. The main point is that we all have fun no matter what, so enjoy my stick, chaps.
