just wondering why is it that when your playing a top player a single shot of the shotgun to the body and not at close range kills you! and i had full health, no armour.
same thing with the combine gun i had full health and just a few rounds kills me, now in the kill box were this happens all the time their were only 4 players 7 at the most at differnt times, i find it hard to believe that everyone in the room shoots at me at the same time as this top player, and yes i was hoping as best i could. and on the other hand you cant kill them the same way now some things don't add up here. any help....

Sometimes it happens. Many a time I've noticed that a couple of smg shots killed me when I thought I had 100% . I think it's really due to my not noticing other players shooting me. Or perhaps a grenade went off near me.

It also depends on where they're hitting me. A single shotgun blast to the head at closish range does a hell of a lot of damage. 4 Pistol shots to the head kills... A few combine rifle shots to the head also kills.

Do you notice this more in killboxes? I suspect you might as average lifespan on them is low due to so much close combat.

I don't think it has anything to do with top players. Top players are harder to kill... that's why they're top.

If you're curious, go into spectate mode and follow them around to see how they do it.
