why is it that a few player are much harder to kill off than others any help?

they use jumping techniques (strafe jumping is the best), run for health when it gets dangerous and kill anyone that would otherwise kill them.

to your magnum problem:
valve messed it up with an update in may 2006, since then even if it may look like you hit the enemy you didnīt. also a bad ping of the other player or you leads to misses.
