hello all,i hope some1 can help me out.i have a nvidia 7300gs vid card and want to upgrade to this:
OcUK MSI GeForce 7900 GTO SILENT 512MB GDDR3 VIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-041-OK)
you can find it here at the bottom of the page.
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/7900_Series.html
my system is an amd athlon 64 2.4ghz with 2gig ram and 200gig hdd.this is the motherboard i have:
http://www.asrock.com/PRODUCT/K8NF4G-SATA2.htm
this motherboard has a graphics section which says:
- Integrated NV44 graphics DX9.0 VGA
- Pixel Shader 3.0
- Max. shared memory 128MB
i dont know much about computers and was worried about the max shared memory only being 128mb and if i bought this card it would not work as well as it could do.will this card work well with my pc?im looking to spend up to £200 or 300 euros for a good card.if any1 could advise me on a good card that will work well with my pc it would be much appreciated.hope some1 can help me with this Sad thanks

the max shared memory goes to the onboard Nvidia NV44 graphics chip. It has nothing to do with the graphics card.

yes the 7900gt is a very good card. look out for overclocked variants that some brands sell. they cost a bit more than the original but they are faster and still have their warranty.

I recommend the X700pro as a cheap card, it runs HL2 with 1280x1024 and every detail high with about 70fps.
but better keep your current card and buy a DX10 one when they come out.
