I have recently been infected by spyware and anytime i go on internet or game in about a minute i will be loaded down with loads of pop-ups and it minimizes my game and lags my computer. I have tried doing several scans on McAfee but they haven't turned anything up. Until i get this straightened out i wont be able to play If anyone has any ideas please post.

You could try the program Ad-Aware. (download.com link) It's an effective anti-spyware program.

It shouldn't affect your game though as presumably you don't have your internet browser open... I used to have loads of spyware, popups etc. Grrrr.

I then used firefox as a browser which sorted the problem. Also, I use Norton internet security which is very good at stopping them.

If Mr Microsoft could take his finger out and release some secure software well we wouldn't be having these problems!

A lot of malware sits in system restore, so that even if you clean it, the next time you start the machine its back again. Turn off system restore, then run Ad-aware and spybot search and destroy (as stated above). it would also be worth running "hijack this" it a cool little util that allows you to delete dodgy registry entries.

When its gone, feel free to turn system restore back on.

(though I always run my system with it off, I've been burnt too many times now. Well it is my own fault for visiting the odd dodgy site *ahem*)
