It's been a long time coming.....

NextGen, the latest map made by [ TSF ] Sadist has arrived. Many hours have been spent developing a deathmatch map that looks more realistic and detailed than maps of old. NextGen features new HD textures courtesy of texture artist Philip K, who provides free not-for-profit textures. NextGen moves away from traditional square killboxes and introduces a multi-environment arena, based on cylindrical shape and transitioning-platform, which transforms the environment at the flick of a switch. NextGen returns with the traditional lift platforms seen in killboxes, and uses water to add an extra element to the gameplay.

The map environment is set in a futuristic silo, transformed for deathmatch play. 'The map looks and sounds like a real place, and plays differently to traditional killboxes'.

Photos below describe the map in context:

High detail textures, real features including gas piping.

The main arena

High detail floors and bumpmapping.

Coloured lighting.

Realistic and atmospheric shadows.

The corridors form a concentric circle around the main arena.

Real features including generators and cable wiring.

The view from the top of the silo.

A single switch transforms the play dynamics, raising the central platform and adding water to the game.

The view underwater. Be sure to reach the supercharger before anyone else and be careful in the water - the platform returns and you could end up trapped, so leave the water when the platforms starts to lower.

Spectator's view.

The Release:

Map is now available to download as RC1:

Known Bugs:

- The central platform is a moving platform operated by a switch. The is a bug which prevent the player from picking up a grenade with gravity gun if it is touching the ground, unless the grenade has stopped moving. Players are advised to avoid dropping grenades onto the central platform, and only to attempt to pick up stationary grenades on the central platform. Grenades not touching the platform are not affected by this bug. Currently there is no known fix for this bug.

Nice work m8, i had to smile though when you see the tiny radiators (compared to the space around), even if they where red hot they wouldn't raise the temp much Laughing
The orange colours give it a 60/70 feel to the age of the construction
