Questions |
|
I'm to lazy to search when i know you guys and girls knowing every thing
1) when i start windows xp it gives me 2 options windows xp and unknown operating system. I have tried everything i know to get rid of this, help please
2) I'm thinking of buying some 200w rear speakers for my van
the radio is 50w x 4ch. Do i need a 2 channel amp to power these or will it be loud enough (for me) without one.
3) my partners laptop has a wireless connection in our house and where every you go it shows at least 3 bars so a good connection. when she's connected, random amount of time it will suddenly cut off the internet and say unable to find certificate. This seems strange to me as it must need this to log on to start with! Any ideas
Thanks all

A lot will depend on how the manafacturer rates the system. 50w x 4ch.
could mean 50w per channel or 50w total output for 4 channels. ie 12.5 w per channel.
Either way, you will need a two channel in line booster amplifier if you want to run 200w speakers at full capacity.
If you buy the 200w speakers, it is worth trying them without the in line amplifier if you have a 50w per channel system, it may be enough.
However if you want to try this make sure you have an impedance match. High power speakers tend to be 2 ohms and the normal car speakers will be 4 ohms. If you have a mismatch you could fry the amp chips in your radio.
If its 50w total output you will definately need the in line booster amps.

Start menu > Run... > type msconfig then Ok
Select BOOT.ini tab
In the text area under [operating systems]
Remove the line containing Unknow operating system or remove the one which doesn't have Windows="Microsoft Windows XP"
Ok then reboot.
This is an extreme modification, be sure which line you will remove, messing there would simply not load windows at the next reboot if the wrong line is removed.
If you are unsure, then just post the content of the BOOT.ini here (type c:\boot.ini in Run... then copy and paste its content), back this file up too in case.

Take it from a guy with a 3500 watt audio system in his car, I've installed more car audio systems than I can count.
I have only come across one set of speakers that weren't subwoofers and still needed an amplifier, your head unit will make them louder than you need and will not starve them, they may be rated at 200w but honestly that means they reached 200w in testing without exploding.
They need no more than 100w (60 honestly) so spare your cars charging system and use the head unit, amplified dash speakers are a novelty really, or if you aren't satisfied with your head units audio tuning capability.
But most head units these days can customize your sound far better than an amplifiers filter.
Of course the tech at the store will tell you otherwise because he would love to sell you an amplifier and have you pay him 60 pounds to hook up 9 wires in an hour.
Sounds like you picked component dash speakers with an independent cone and tweeter, good choice and they will sound better but they do not need an amplifier.
