hl2 mp map into sp map |

I came across a puzzling (not puzzle) map in a coop server and I was wondering if/how I could turn it into a single player map. I tried playing it, but the game crashed with no error. The name of the map is coop_fleeravenholm_part1.

Try to run the server in TDM mode.
mp_teamplay 1 or when creating a server ingame use GAME tab and check the teamplay box.

It sounds like you want to play the map on Half Life 2 single player.
Half Life 2 maps needs a "info_player_start"
(main player spawn used for HL2)
My guess is the map only has "info_player_combine" "info_player_rebel" or "info_player_deathmatch" player spawns they are useless for hl2, and will crash Half Life 2 if no "info_player_start" spawns are also in the map.
convert the map coop_fleeravenholm_part1.bsp to coop_fleeravenholm_part1.vmf using "vmex098g"
Load the map in Source SDK Hammer (map editor)
Add a "info_player_start" entity
Run/compile the map
and play

The damn thing already has an info_player_start entity.. I tried deleting it and adding my own, but it was just like with the old entity, just closed the game with no error and also crashed hammer with memory could not be read error..

Plan B
With the coop maps I think the mappers use entitys to force you on rebels team. Find that entity and remove it not sure what the name would be. Before you do that remove all "info_player_rebel" entitys.

I found 5 info_player_deathmatch spawn points when I loaded the vmf for hl2: dm.. I removed them, loaded the vmf for hl2, started the game and again, it crashed both the game and hammer I don't think there were any other spawn points besides those 5 (well there is still the info_player_start one), but just in case, how can I search for them? for just one type of player entity.... or, what else could be wrong with this map

To search for map entities, go to the "Map" option then click "entity report" Very useful to find all entities if a big map.

Here this is the best I could do.
The map is now converted to work with
half-life 2 episode one single player
Has been tested with half-life 2 episode two but
recommended to use with hl2 episode one (ep1 engine)
Place in half-life 2 episode one maps folder
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\YOUR-STEAM-NAME\half-life 2 episode one\episodic\maps
OR
Place in half-life 2 episode two maps folder
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\YOUR-STEAM-NAME\half-life 2 episode two\ep2\maps
Run the map on the console
type: "map hl2_fleeravenholm_part1"

It was so easy with saves, although I didn't need a previous save, made it to the end barely breathin ), turns out the map was shorter than I thought, but pretty hard.. and also buggy! some graphs were missing and the ant guard suddenly disappeared after I launched the first rocket and ran and hid lol and that was probably meant to be the hardest part.. Again, many thanks! hat's off 2 u, u've been very patient, helpful and explicit is it too advanced to explain to a noob like me what u did there?

Some of the entitys from the hl2dm version didn't
show up in HL2, so I remove them and add other
entitys that does the same job as the hl2dm
entitys. If I remember right...
