PostPosted: Tue Sep 16, 2008 19:53    Post subject:  [Done] Shortage expected due to server migration

The new server is up and ready to host all our applications.
We are already done moving a couple of them without any shortgage.

Further moves are bigger and will require a temporary shortgage in order to proceed to a full transfert for the following applications:

- TSGK Global Stats
- HL2 DeathMatch Consortium
- TSGK Forum

Therefor, the following applications will be down for 30 minutes at the schedule times below:

- TSGK Forum: Transfert expected 17 September at 3 a.m. CEST
- TSGK Global Stats: Transfert expected 17 September at 4 a.m. CEST
- HL2 DeathMatch Consortium: Transfert expected 18 September at 8 a.m. CEST

During these shorgages no stats will be tracked and the forum will be turned off.

Note that, this concerne DATABASE transfert and DNS relocation, it could take up to 4 days for your DNS cache to be reinitialised and enjoy the performance of the new server, also during the migration you shouldn't experience any problem at all, the most sensitiv part will be the forum due to Files attachements but the work around is ready for those who would still point to the old server.

HL2 DeathMatch Consortium participants will have nothing to do during the transfert, everything will be up and running right after it is done and connection will be automaticaly back again, and this even if the stats will be off for 30 minutes.

As for those who wonder what the specifications of the new server are:

Intel Bi-Xeon Quad core E5405 @ 2.00 Ghz 45nm (= Octocore).
750 Gb of data storage RAID 1
8 Gb RAM
WAN bridge @ 1 Gb/s

Old ones are/were:

Intel Core2Duo 6600 @ 2.4 Ghz
300 Gb of data storage RAID 1
2 Gb RAM
WAN bridge @ 1 Gb/s

Performances should be notable, we hope...

That's it, we are fully done with the migration.
Everything went very well so we decided to do all in a row.
Thanks.

Sure thing, with unplugged Fans it can make up to 8 Toasts at the same time. Very Happy
