Help, My game crashes once server has loaded map |

Help folks!! Anyone got any ideas??
I launch HL2DM, the map loads, i get the black screen with little box loading stuff, it lets me just get into the game to where the splash screen for the server starts then my game just hangs and i have to end task.....
Doing my nut in!! Could do without a reinstall!! Graphics drivers perhaps??
Any suggestions welcomed and greatfully appreciated!!

Hi, do you have any other games that use the Source engine? I.e Counter Strike Source or Day of Defeat?
If you have, launch into them and see if you have the same problem. It could be a GFX problem, but if you have the same drivers and made no settings changes to your system then it sounds more like a Game error.
Try changing all your GFX settings to the lowest possible, there is also a way to force the game to use DirectX 7 or 8 or something like that, that might help pinpoint the error down (Some nice person who knows it will post the Command line code)
If all else fails I just recommend a Re-install of the game, but check all of the above first, re-install is really the final step and might not solve your problem. Someone else will probably know what the problem is.
If all above fails, then raise a Support Ticket with Steam to solve your problem, they are slow though so try and get it in before the weekend.

To specify what direct x level to run the game at, open the steam games menu, right click on half life 2 deathmatch, click on advanced, then launch options. -dxlevel 70 = dx 7, -dxlevel 80 = 8 and so on

Obvious question... did you do anything to your PC or anything on your PC since the last succesful load of the game? Updated any drivers? etc
