Paul Bunyan.
And that old book "where the wild things are" that was old school,
And James and the giant peach = pwnt reading.
There was another one about some kid tricking a giant into trying to squeeze water from a rock, that was also entertaining.

Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes always made me laugh as a kid, infact too many of his books to mention make me laugh, but my favourites as a kid was definately: -
Boy & Going Solo (Again by Roald Dahl)
Don't ask me why, they were more his memoirs rather than his books, however they were always my favourites. found them incredibily fascinating, infact this post is making me buy them both off Amazon as I type.

The only awesome tale I can remember from my youth is "Where the Wild Things Are."
Although I was pretty corrupted by the likes of Spaceballs, Animal House, and the Rocky Horror Picture Show (only parts of it) starting at age 6 or so
