Subject description: The INETs Meltdown is upon us

Was reading this: -
http://www.t3.com/news/the-internet-is-full?=35532

All I can say is Oh noes. To think YouTube used as Much Bandwidth alone last year as the whole of the Internet in 2000?!?!?!?!?! Thats immense! I'd hate to see there server and bandwidth bill Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Ive seen these rumours for years but to just think 1 site alone last year can generate as much bandwidth as the whole internet did 7 years ago is quite scary.

What are we going to do when pings of 125- 150 plus become the defacto standard? I guess your ok where they have upgraded the wiring, as for the UK, we still got technology running our networks back from the good ol 1970s, so were screwed Rolling Eyes

It happens that yesterday I've read something about the CERN doing tests for the "new" internet. It's about fire optic cables reaching 1000 times the speed of fastest current internet connections O_O don't worry cabbage Smile

Network Traffic in Ireland is transported by tractors or the local drunk. How long before they invent a new version of that?

That will be called Local Drunk II. Exact date is not set but it will be
whenever the tractor and the drunk team up. Smile

I am waiting for Internet 3 - p0rn will be virtual reality and eight thousand times faster - you will be able to get yourself off in under a second (and Rafa's tractor will have a flame painted down the side).

Not in the next decade.

expect Blu-Ray to rule the market in the nex couple of years, but in about 20 years (less) games will have millions of shaders, dynamic textures (like the ability to create new textures in-game, etc.

the future in games wont be texture and stuff like that, it will be physics and shading, texture in Crysis is pretty close to reality

nah, don't think so. I mean if you look back to the past and see what people thought the future would look like, they were totally wrong + they thought stuff would evolve way faster than it does now. yea, evolutions do go fast but I have doubts with people that predict fantastic/wondrous new evolutions, I'd say wait till you say something ^^

Just report my internet connection. I now get 131kbs download and 345kbs upload. BT rate my line as 500kbs, our local exchange is listed as code red ( to be upgraded soon = when rafs tractor delivers it Rolling Eyes )

Couple of years ago they quoted we may get cable tv in 10 yrs time, if they can even be bothered to come out to our village. As to fibre optic, they will stop laying the cable around here and run that through the city streets 1st, so the 10yrs may even be 20yrs now.

Technologys good but only if you live in a city Evil or Very Mad

They need to make more fiber networks, but no internet companies want to do it.
