Which AI is best for generating game character?
We're starting development on a new game at our company. Want to try something different this time and use AI to generate character and location prototypes that I can refine and finish by hand. Figure it'll speed up the initial concept phase quite a bit. Which AI would work best for this kind of work?
Honestly depends on your art style. I've been messing around with Stable Diffusion lately and it's pretty flexible once you get the hang of prompting, but there's definitely a learning curve. Leonardo AI might be easier to jump into right away, especially for game-related stuff. The main thing is making sure whatever you pick can keep characters looking consistent across different poses and angles.
The free versions of most AI tools work fine for basic concepts, but when you need consistency across multiple characters or want specific art styles for your game world, the limitations show up fast. Pro tiers usually have better resolution and more detailed outputs that actually work as proper reference material. Try Nano Banana Pro https://nanobananaweb.io/nano-banana-pro . The Pro version specifically handles this kind of work more realistically, generates cleaner prototypes that are easier to refine into final assets.
