I want to make a movie for hl2dm but I dont know what program to take and how to use it. I tried Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 but I dont really understand much, just like Photoshop Rolling Eyes

I just have basic needs: adding text, adding music and bringing all those snippets from dems together to 1 video file that I can encode to Xvid. also I would like to be able to put in black bars to make the 16:10 to 4:3 for the videos I will contribute to the tsgk movie.

if I should use premiere pro I need some help videos or webpages.

You can use Windows moviemaker, it's very easy to use.

Just record your Dem files with Fraps and then edit the movie files with Moviemaker. You can split the movies and delete what you don't need, add some text and music and your done.

Make sure your set your setting to 16:10 or 4:3 what ever you want.

The best is Windows MovieMaker. Use Fraps for record Demo in .Avi size , but be sure to have a LOT of space (1.5go for 20min) on your hardrive.

Here is Fraps Cfg.

thanks for the help. had never really thought it could be a good tool so I had never opened it before Laughing
very simple and easy to understand Smile

1.5gb for 20mins? I get 1.2gb files for 1min... what am I doing wrong? I use fraps to record .dems with 30fps and half the size (840x524). or is this wrong?

I have 140gb free space for it but still does it have to be that huge?

Let's try these,

The Chad and Todd podcast http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3100299146411095239&q=Adobe+Premiere+Pro+CS3+tutorial&total=3&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=0

Video-tutes.com http://www.video-tutes.com/

And the department of film http://www.hl2dm-university.com/forum/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=13

See what you can pick up from these because pro cs3 can do some amazing things ^^

is there a way to export the movie of moviemaker without using wma? I want to use Xvid and keep the resolution unchanged (there is no 16:10 available, only 4:3 which looks bad with my widescreen). just a raw .avi would be fine too, I can use a tool to make an xvid version.

Seems like I should be able to help, since this is what I do for a living, but I'm afraid I only know how to use Avid Media Composer and After Effects. I haven't used Premier since 6.5.

If there's some specific effect you're trying to do, let me know.

Open Windows moviemaker and click on Extras at the top bar, then open the options menu. Select the page Advanced and here you can select your aspect ratio.

but only 4:3 or 16:9. but I have a 16:10 resolution. I want it to leave the resolution. I´m slowly understanding Premiere Pro, maybe I´ll just use that.
