Computer is here! computer is here! i have benchmarkz :D Subject description: yay |
|
Finished installing every program that i needed, RAID drivers for RAID 0 array, Service pack 2 (the XP install CD is old )
So i made benchmarks, i gotten over 16.000 marks in 3DMark06
And average 250 fps with everything at high full HDR, driver settings inclusive.. The fps would be over 300 but i need to optimize XP a bit more, and get the new nvidia drivers. (Bear in mind that this version of HL2, build 2XXX, doesnt have quad core support, needless to say it would only work with 2 cores.)
I forgot to mention that the computer is at my brothers home, and i dont have a router to share INet in my house, so ill only move the computer to my house when i have better Inet and a router (512K here!)
The computer is simply amazing
i forgeten how to apply thermal paste in the CPU so my bro did it for me, everything was assembled by me
specs are the following:
GPU: XFX GeForce 8800 Ultra XXX Edtion (With 10% overGlock)
CPU: Core 2 Extreme QX6850 3.0GHz at 3.66GHz (Stable)
Cooler: Tuniq Tower 120mm fan
Mobo: EVGA nvidia 680i SLI T1
RAM: MUSHKIN KIT 2GB DDR2-1066
and a bunch of other crap that doesnt need t be mentioned ( case Antec Nine Hundred etc etc )
Im currently at my brothers pc, he doesnt have a router either
BLEH
at least i wont lag anymore

Great lineup of hardware, nice . Personally i'm gonna wait a bit for the next generation of dx10 hardware before upgrading, the current one is not worth my money.

Always good to see that someone buys the most expensive CPU and VGA and tells something about Overlocking but not at its own.
Funny is:
2 * 8800GTX would be faster for nearly the same price.
And if you dont use SLI you dont have to use that crap nForce.
Start some other benches
Or tell us the exact settings; was it really 4*4 SSAA --- Ah i see it was just 16x (4x SGMS + 12x SGCAA)
+ TSAA + 16AF at which resolution?

Thats useless.
Two single disks are faster.

i tried 1 single disk, then tried 2 disk in RAID 0, and it is faster
the Extreme editions are unlocked and have better overclocking capabilities, thats why its so expensive -_-
and theres the QX6950 coming aswell

Which graphic drivers are u using? Beta drivers? I tried out several ones, all of them giving me BSOD's or crashes (especially in Bioshock; HL2 and TF2 are better). The ones which work best for my rig (Zalman GT1000 case, Asus Commando, EVGA 8800 GTX, 3 GB OCZ Reaper, Intel Core Duo E6850, WD Raptor) is 163.69. Still not 100% perfect, but pretty ok.
What cooling system are u using? Water? Which Power supply? Whats the noise level at full use?
Congrats to yer new rig, i know how it feels, got mine 2 months ago and i'm still happy as a bee

he has air cooling. I really recommend using watercooling if you have the money for such a high end system, just the noise reduction is enough reason.

each part was carefuly choosen, it took 4 months untill i came to a final decision
the power supply is a LC Power Arkangel 850W 2.2
i tested with a voltmeter (how is this thing called in english?) and everything was pretty stable at full load, including 12 volt lines
the drivers.. their the latest, i dont know which, i forgot.
Lawitz! Tuniq Tower is very nice air cooler, its one of (if not) the best around
the cpu cooler and the power supply are not very noisy, but the ultra ...
it makes more noise than the whole system itself.
BUT, my old computer is 2 times noisier than this, and im happy
I played Stalker over 100 fps i couldnt belive how fluent it is
Also, im ging to reformat when i get INet, im still messing around with some options xD

Hmm, but my EVGA 8800 GTX is so silent (even at full load) that i can't hear it. Doesn't it have the same cooling system like the Ultra? A carefully designed air cooling system (no blocked air flows, massive case, no resonance vibration etc) can be very silent as well (ok, not as silent as watercooling perhaps). The only fans i can just hear are the front ones for the HD's (Zalman GT1000 case, see picture), the Zalman 9700 fan for the CPU is barely audible as well.
DrBreen, could u post a picture of your case? Just curious...

The "already ordered" C2D 6850 mutated to one of this evil and "sucking" QX6850. The additional 2 Cores have grown over night, eh?
Off now to the next Ferrari Dealer. I just won 12 Billion Zloty at Kuwait-Lottery. Could someone give me 2.5 Euros on PayPal? The Bus dont takes Zloty.

Yeah, well. im not stupid enought to get AMD's Quad core because it didnt acctualy get released, phnom, at least
the reason why i had a 30 day thing is because i know i would be re arranging the spec list anytime soon
also, i only bought the kentsfield for Crysis and Crysis only and its an extreme version wich is unlocked and i can overclock easily
and i am trying to get pics, i have them in me phone, i just dont know where the blutooth thing is

Now i tell you a secret:
Overclocking is also easy possible without a free multiplier.
With a watercooling you could buy cheaper hardware and overclock more and enjoy the silence.

then your ears are not very sensitive. I often had this discussion where people said: "this gpu cooler is silent" where as in my view its brutally loud.

you cant really say what 40db is. but I know what you mean, I know someone who has such a machine, almost as loud as a hairdryer.
