Half Life 2 was the 1st FPS I ever liked and ever played for more then 2 hours. I loved it how I just jumped into the game and didn't have to spend any time at all tweaking the game to have it playable. I have tried many many other FPS games since Hl2 and even before and most have been very disappointing to me.

Far Cry: Why does everyone love this game? I feel like there is a slight delay with the mouse when looking around.. everything is a quarter second off? I have tried installing this game 3 different times to try it.

Call of duty 1 and 2: now these games are not that bad but stll the mouse movements are not as good as hl2.

Unreal2004: okay this is one game which has good mouse movements! Very Happy

I'm sure quake 3 does aswell.

Battlefield 2: WTF is with this game .. same this as far cry .. slight delay in the mouse movement. I can't stand that.

and now onto the worst! ... Bioshock. OMG this game is retarded .. I have given up trying to play it because the mouse controls are so horrible. I feel like I am fighting my mouse not fighting enemies. It's ridiculous.

I have spent over 9 hours trying to tweak bioshock so that it has playable mouse controls but it sucks soo bad. Even with weird tweaks to get rid of the mouse accelation the mouse gets stuck and just refuses to turn. also .. there are times when my mouse buttons don't even register anymore in game and I need to restart to even make it so i can switch weps.. it's weird.. keyboard still works fine... and the mouse still works fine in hl2dm..

uhh!!! rant over!

That is so right! Bioshock is horrible for gameplay! It doesn't even seem to be the mouse. It is as if you slide around on ice. It is highly disappointing, the lack of crisp gameplay. Stalker is the same. Aim stinks, sliding around, hitting barely anything.

I have no idea what is causing you mouse problem in Bioshock. I am experiencing none of this. I have the recommended spec for the game with the exception of a DX10 compliant card. I am using a 1600 dpi mouse - a Razer Diamonback.
I would imagine that running the game on the minimum spec with a bog standard mouse would not be the most pleasant experience.

Same mouse here, but no problems at all with Bioshock. Didn't load any Razer specific drivers though (just "plug'n'pray"). Like Zog i also got the required hardware (8800 GTX, 3 GB RAM etc). HL2 is known do scale very well on all kind of hardware (slower graphics card etc).

P4 2.53 GHz, 1280 MB RAM, ATI X1600 Pro HDMI & Razer Death Adder.

Worked fine here even at these lower specs.

I am running the game on the default settings. I have no problem with the mouse slowing down on load up.
I am running a 2.13ghz core 2 duo with 2gb ram and a 7600GS with 512k.
This sets the fps rate at 60 but it can be set a lower with for lower spec systems. Or, it can be turned off completely. 2k advise that if you turn the frame limiter off, the performance will suffer.

The game runs at 1024x768 resolution 32bit. I have not tried on a my LCD monitor. I went back to the CRT for gaming because the LCD response time was only 16ms. In hl2 dm I regularly turn in 200fps and, if you do the arithmetic you will find out I was losing complete frames.
60 fps at a refresh rate of 75hz should be within the capabilities of all but the oldest of LCD monitors. If you are using a LCD panel it might be worth checking out if there is a resolution conflict with the default settings.

Other than this, I can not help. You may like to try their form or lodge a query with their technical help if you have not done so. I tried their technical help. I got an auto reply but am still waiting for a full reply to my question about the conflicts with AVG. That was three weeks ago. I solved that one myself.

Edit I forgot to say that I downloaded the latest video and Razer mouse drivers before I started. It is running on XP pro.

I play at 1680x1050 with 2000dpi (g5), mouse ingame setting 3 and mouse acceleration set to off in windows. in the beginning it was way too hard to play like this, the pointer went way too fast. then I set the mouse speed down to 1 but it was still very bad. then I set the dpi down to 800 and mouse speed back to 3 and it was playable. but then it began to feel very slow after some time so I changed back to 2000dpi and I can play ok with this. it takes time to get used to it.

if every game used the same mouse control, woudn´t it be theoretically possible to aim good at any game if you learn it in one?

depends on the game
as for BF2 it's not bad dude
Bioshock/Oblivion/Deux Ex 2 are multiplatform games, so we get stiffed as they optimize everything for a joypad hence the noticable lag in response. When applying that to mouse controls, well, it seems laggy. It's sad... very sad... but oh well they gotta cut costs and we get to eat... yeah you know lol

nuff said...

oh yeah and UT2k4's mouse control are heavenly, UT2k3 was weird...

Shimmens got a point there. Just started with "Medal of Honour:Airborne" - another adoption from the gameconsole corner - and the aiming is a real pain in there too. The late implementation of mouse steering seems to be a big problem for programmers or they simply dont care that much about this stuff.

I guess they are still used to Super Mario or Packman and trust in the power of 4 Key Steering. No idea but many Games that got mainly developed for consoles have similar problems with their mouse sensivity.

Battlefield 2 the mouse movement is fine Laughing very good game best army game out there I think. Wink

Maybe look on the game options and see what you can do with the mouse sensitivity. If you have then I don't know Shocked

I liked the single player part of Far Cry but multiplayer was boring and useless I thought.
As far as the other games you mentioned are you sure its not because of the hardware in your system? Battlefield 2 is known to run properly on 1.5Gb of RAM. With less than even 1Gb you might notice some hesitation overall in the game and may make it seem like a mouse problem. Bioshock recommends 512Mb of video ram. Minimum I think is 256Mb. Anyway, thats just my two cents Smile
