does anyone have any funny background stories behind their in game name? Why do you go by that alias?

i'll start: MeekMeekle is a parody on Mike Michael .. which is a parody on my real name LAWL!

I remember playing LAN parties at my mates and everyone had cool names, I remember we played CS and I just loved to headshot my mate with the scout on de_aztec. Gives such a buzz, then knife the corpse and shout

'Im dancing on your grave, Im dancing on your grave!'

Then go eat pizza.

So I guess that made me a Sadist.

I used to play with the name Wolvrine. No E Razz

Cuz played aggressively in the games of the quake 2 , hl1, unreal and ut.Then the X men movie came out and everyone on earth wanted to call themselves wolverine. So it ruined my child hood super comic book hero's name. My friends called me Shimmy as my old email address was shimhafek. So the name stuck since. and there for my nick name is Shimmy.

Sniperborg - Started playing this game on the council maps, sniper style out of the window. Borg part is meant to machine consistent accurate.
Then i discovered the GG and thought of just calling my self "The Borg",but by then everyone knew as sniperborg and didn't realize that if i changed so would everyones friends list for me. I didn't want to loose my friends Wink

In the early days when I used to play Rome: Total War online I always seemed to steal my friend's nicknames resulting in a new one frequently, though several started to stick: "smoggy", "greenJelly", uh "blueJelly" (in-joke referring to the army colour of the 4 roman factions).

Actually all of that is irrelevant. More recent names, xenon, argon, radon, hexane come from the fact I just like science based things. But not too complicated like err...(thinks back to chemistry) 2-4 dinitrophenylhydrazine. Great chemical but a mouthful to say. Shocked

erm.. my realname is max and a friend of me started to call me mäggs, which is i think 5 years ago. I liked it so it became my online name everywhere. But i needed to change it to maeggs beacause of the little english folks which cant handle dots over an a Razz

I'm using "MiCao" for all kinds of nicks.. on IRC, on forums etc. When i was looking for a nickname on IRC, like 10 years ago or so, i had a chocolate drink called "Micao" on my desk.. which still exists:

Zog goes back a long time. I have kind of kept the name.
Zog Bedwetter is the full name but I am kind of past that phase now.
I used the name to amuse my sons when we played lan games. That was long before coming from the planet Zog meant not being quite with it. Shocked

i started using the name since about 7th grade for an email address and i use it for everything else too. 989 i stole from my friend. also its pretty cool cuz i have ppl asking me on dm if im really black.

The first name I played under was Oderus, as in Oderus Urungus of Gwar, because Gwar is freaking sweet. Next was cheap whiskey because cheap whiskey is awesome. Third was Tomato of Eternal Awesomeness. Tomato was chosen randomely as was the ensuing epithet (I do so love epithets). Yeah, the name was awesome but it was quite random. My forum name was a combination of cheap whiskey and tomato. Plasmodesmata came about when I hit a rough spot in playing and I decided to change names to be ninja like, and stuff. It was chosen because it's a freaking cool word, and I actually know what it means. But it was quite random at that.

My name came from playing black and white 1 the day it came out. I sat in fyckfaco's chair thinking of names other than Miles >.< and I came out with Jabeaf which i then transformer into Biffjab wooo
Fyckfaco's name came from the N64 when he tried to call himself fuckface spelt face wrong and fuck was turned into fyck curtesy of the company Nintendo Very Happy

I got the controllerboy name from me mom ^^
when I was a kid I used to play 9-hour sessions with the playstation and my mom said 'get away from that bakske ! ' 'bakske' is our dialect for 'bakje' which is our loose translation from controller ^^ I told her it was 'controller',
and from that moment she started to call me controllerboy whenever I was playing a computer game.

I liked the game Legend of Dragoon for the ps1 a lot and wanted to take the name of a character. it was Lavitz but I had forgotten how it was written and wrote Lawitz. Lawitz is a town at the border of germany to poland I found out later. I´m more happy with Lawitz though as it sounds better.

Back when I used to play counter strike 1.3 on LAN, me and my little brothers tried to come up with funny names. I used to be goofy names like:
Mr. badsocks
The wild heeb
Shotgun johnny
under_your_score
and so on...

I got made fun of at school because my mom took me to church at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints.
This one guy at school kept calling me "norman the mormon"
It started to stick, so in high school, my friends began to call me norm.
When I played DoD:S in CAL, they told me I had to pick a name and stick with it which was
"IcE`underscore norm".

Now, the only time I am ever know as Jordan is by people I dislike, (family, co-workers etc.) or at college.
