about 8 of us already tested it last night.
my opinion:
-crossbow is underpowered on the map
-stairway to above area where pool is kind of awkward and sometimes i walk right off the side of the house.
-teleporter from basement to roof .. I fall off the roof too.
-lots of people complain about poor fps.
overall it's a good map though. and it's definately your best. it was still fun to play. i like the 3d skybox.

Very good map, great fun even tho im not a big fan on the shotgun. The twisty coridoors makes it fun and easy to get away from onslaughts. I too get very poor fps, not sure why as the map is quite small and simple (not in a bad way tho).
Not sure how the player noclip texture helps the play of the map, i would suggest removing it, feels more like a bug than a map feature. The big windows upstairs could do with being a higher up, as crouch jump takes you too high to get in (bang ya head), and your too big to get in other wise, i found you have to jump early to get through them easily. I think that big video camera screen could be one of the reasons for the lag, it might be rendering even when its off screen and through walls. It only appears to slow down when i look that way, dunno tho, not sure how the source engine renders things like that, the water is in a simialr direction so that might be it too. The car would be better if it was heavy like in matar, so that unless its hit by a combine ball it doesnt really get in the way.
Sorry if it seems like im being picky, im not at all, i think its a great map, tho i think phyics box was your finest moment so far mike, love that crazy box

ERRRM meek i just reread your post lol wtf are you on about, none of that makes sense apart form the low fps.
Why the hell would you want to stay on the roof for a start, its for a quick get away. If you run in the the teleport, then you come out running, if you wanna stay on the roof, dont run
How can the xbow be underpowered????? Thats a silly thing to say. Slow due to fps maybe, but its still the same weapon.
And the stairway is not easy to fall off, are you using a NES controller or something? I can draw you a map if you want to show you how to use stairs? Its really simple once youve mastered it.
Before you comment on a map, make sure they are comments that can actually inspire the mapper to fix the problems, not piss him off. If i was mike, i would have told you to shutup and learn to play. Why do i get the feeling you lost all the games you played in there.
Rant over, sorry to be harsh, but im taking as much care with my words as you did with yours.

Wow. Okay I obviously didn't explain myself in detail enough.
LOOK .. my complaint was the staircase from INSIDE the house to the above level runs straight into the edge of the house. LOOK i even posted a picture!
I see this part of the map as the biggest flaw because I think it's stupid how the stairs run right into a "wall" ... because really .. not that many players are going to want to go up those stairs to just jump off the edge. When do you ever see a house like that? .. seriously if this were in real life I would be afraid for children breaking their bones!
If you disagree then you're wrong.
.. also in reply to the xbow.. everyone always has armour on this map like nuts.. and it's easy to escape after getting hit by a bolt so .. that was why I said that about the xbow.

I know what stairs you were talking about and i stand by what i sed. You will only fall off if your not in control of where your going. And i dont remember children being in the character selection menu, must have missed that. Do they get hurt more when they fall?? Id keep them away from launch ramps too then, thanks for the tip. And while we're at it, why are all these weapons lying around in the reach of children :/
All your last post did is confirm to me that you put those comments just to put the map down. The xbow thing doesnt even make sense, you still take off 100hp, act like a tsgk and stick to finish them off.
Thats the trouble with killbox only players, the concepts of movement paths without lifts or ramps doesnt occur to them. You need other things to get speed and quick getaways, the fact that you can curve the mouse, strafe jump, hold crouch glide up the stairs and end up purched on the fense on the bottom floor ready with a 357 aiming at the person who was slowly following you is a plus not a negative.
Im still laughing at the roof comment, so im not gonna say anything about that.

No im british, we dont have bad moods. Just fueled by sarcasm and bias opinions. Just wanted to point out that you were being unhelpful and negative, raising issues that were actually to do with your gameplay, and not gta's map. No bad feelings here, this is just an opinion, i might even be wrong. But being told im wrong when the supposed proof i am wrong is total balls, is not something that makes me wanna say "wow you so right, my bad"
Where the fuck is breen, we need a reg map player to test this biatch.

Thanks for your feedbacks everyone, the good, the bad, they will be worthy for GTAMike that he may or may not take in consideration, that's all he wanted for this test of DM_Combat_House_V2 and the reason of this thread.
It is good to have the opinions from any kind of gameplay, confirmed, debutant, camper... the best way to tweak a map if needed depending what the mapper is looking for its map.

I don't plan to make a Version 3, but if I did I would not remove the stairs I use them and have no problems if you don't like the 2nd stairs not use them easy as that. FPS some time gets abit low I think I know why, could be the water in the map and also the cube maps I find that cube maps do make fps drop, but with out them the water would not look so nice also metal and glass. I think the hit textures helped the FPS a bit. The big screen in the map recording the trap room may make the FPS drop, I don't think it's that cause gravity gun killbox as one and fps is 80 to 100 there.
I had fun in the map test and im sure that the other people did to.
Would be nice if the map gets put on server X votemap map or some thing.
I'll thinking of doing a other house, so this map will stay at V2.
over all the map test went well.
