UK Players - VIRGIN MEDIA Customers Subject description: Server problems ? |
|
Guys,
I and a few other VM users I know have lately experienced terrible ping and choke on servers which were fine a week ago. I am putting this down to VM's new traffic management policy. http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/internet/traffic.html
I am currently preparing a thread / problem page which I will bring to the attention of VM in a bid to get this problem sorted out.
If you are having problems, could you please post your details here :- http://www.arcadegeneration.eu/forums/showthread.php?p=14315#post14315
Incidentally, TSGK are one the of the servers that I cannot now play.
Thanks for your help.

Hmmm. Might also explain why NTL customers in Ireland are having problems bearing in mind that VM Broadband was once NTL UK and that they are likely to still have traffic management linkages. I notice that it's easier to get to TSGK servers in the Netherlands & Europe than those in the UK which are located closer to me in Dublin.

Their internet service is pretty poor. I've experienced very bad lag with them since Feb/March when they took over NTL (ISP we had before).
Even in in the middle of a weekday for me, ping fluctuates wildy from 70-250, usually on the higher end. And When afternoon hits there are no servers with less than 250.
Shockingly my dad works for them (used to work for NTL y'see) and he is trying to make them acknowledge their internet is a bit crap. Apparently it is down to too many people signing up, a lack of planning and probably that silly traffic policy.

Its seems odd tho that a number of players have only just started having this specific problem all at the same time however.
Prior to this my ntl connection has been faultless in the 5 years or so I have had it.

As has mine. I don't personally believe its just suddenly happened due to more sign ups.

Lucky people! ;-p
*sigh* I don't deny that the service has potential. When it works it's very fast. Just the reliability around here is lacking quite a bit...
