HL2 running on Vista (hardware support) |
|
Hello,
Have a couple of questions about windows Vista:
- Does HL2 deathmatch run flawless on vista?
- What is the best sound card, who has a perfect support within Vista? ( i have read there ar a lot of problems with the driver support for Creative sound cards)
thanks,
Bassie

I understand that it generally runs fine on Vista. I've ordered a new PC with Vista. When booking it, the vendor would only give one choice of sound card for Vista OS PCs, the Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme which appears to be Vista ready.

My friend had alot of problems with Vista He got a very powerful graphic's card and it would not install on Vista, aslo lots of other software didn't work . So my friend took the pc back and now he's got a new PC with XP software on.
I think Vista use's alot of RAM not sure.
I'll get Vista when it is 100 % ready fixed by updates or some thing.
Too many bugs for the price it is o_0

I have vista installed on a second hard drive it was OK on hl2dm but no better than XP after a few updates it has become almost unplayable.
Stick with XP as long as you can... vista is not gamer friendly yet .

vista uses more ram, but most of the ram used is preloaded things that were likely to be loaded so the speed is improved as the things dont have to be loaded from the hdd to the ram but are right there already.
its recommended to wait at least until Vista Service Pack 1 comes out before making the change.
