Lets Talk - Friends List |
|
We have got the Friends List for steam so we can play against each other, but as our friendship grows we like to talk to each. This leaves steam chat slow typing with no emotion feed back.
Then comes the web cam or microphone and the two popular programs Skype and msn messenger. Do you use these and should we start a friends list so we can talk real time. or we just a bunch of computer nerds who like to hide ourselfs.

Here you can find a small and basical live chat that ive just installed at our Forum some Days ago for a try. Not perfect but anyway better then nothing if you like to talk to more then only 1 person at same time (steam friends). You dont even need to be logged in to the forum for using it actual. Plop in and send a message to check if someone else is online with you actual. You can use smileys there too by writing the correct code like : and ) = etc.

SNIPERBORG IS NINJA
i find steam chat to be ok, you just have to know your smileys.
but i could use some face to face chat(sort of face to face) which is better. that's how people are supposed to talk.
YAY BORG!!!!!!!!

Its probably best if we ask Osiris to recommend a voice chat system for TSGK so that we all use the same one.
Osiris if you read this thread could recommend one or design a chat system we can use along side steam chat please

I'm confused and conflusterbated...
What's to recommend? In game there is both on-screen chat, and voice (if enabled in settings). There is also teamspeak and some clans have an open door policy about this. Off game there is Friends... Off Steam there is microsoft messanger etc (which I think is both messaging and voice).
If you don't have a PC there is the Post Office.
Excuse me, I need to go to the loo.

All the steam chat is covered in the original thread, but if i'm on the tsgk forum or just want to talk to a freind (off steam) what do i use, that every one else is using.
What i'm getting at is if we are all to use messenger that we need a list (like under the original thread) listing everyones messengers contact details.
I'm asking which system should we use that is univeral to TSGK members and friends of? Shall we use messenger of another???

In game isnt any place for talking many more then hello, nice, gg and so on as i personal believe. Further it wouldnt be fair to block a Gameslot only for chatting and there are only 16 free slots tough.
A TS Server can be hosted without even having to been related to a Gameserver but not everyone owns a headset and i wouldnt be sure about proper understatement.
Friends, ICQ, Yahoo, MS Messenger and every other Messenger needs the knowledge about the Account Name or ICQ Number and its also mostly only for dialogues between 2 Persons and not more.
Positive on Chat and IRC is that you can join the Group Therapy instantly without buying, downloading or installing anything. No need to remeber dozen of long ICQ Numbers or "MSN / Yahoo Identies", installing 3 or more different Messengers (every single needs its RAM) and not anymore 8 different Chat Windows at same time. And the best: You dont need a Post Stamp.
The Idea wasnt to have 3 on Friends, 2 on ICQ, 5 at TS and 10 in the possibly new created TSGK IRC. It was about bringing all 20 together to one unique place - therefore it doesnt really matter whos system would be used to meet together.
At last it was a nice Idea by Sniperborg and only meaned as addition and friendly invitation for everyone around - never mind to start up any confussion, conflusterbation (?) or a techniqual discussion - you may continue writing letters and operating 3 Friends Windows if you prefer that.

Ahhhhhh. Now I understand. Simply put, what messaging do we use and what's our contact details?
Well, I don't use any..
But... if you look at the bottom of people's sigs you might find some. For instance, Lawitz above has ICQ and MSN Messanger. Feel free to add him - he won't mind he's very friendly and furry. Danny doesn't show his details which is just as well as his English is atrocious.
