I wish I had a new version to upload, but the work I've done on it so far has pretty much sucked and has been scrapped.
Anyway, go hog wild. I'll work around whatever you do. I still got dibs on the top room (the one that will have been designed by sammich), and the room that was made larger, though.

ok i had a bit time today so i continued the map a bit.
concerning the textures, i saw ur images sam, they are nice, but:
-where do i find these textures
-exact name of them or keyword how i can find them with hammer
-are they custom (garry mod) or normal textures
for texturing the map it would be nice to have custom textures, cuz the standard textures are all a bit grey and so on, you know what i mean, not really club style..
BUT, if u want to have costum textures, someone has to do them.
thats also the reason why i would propose to do some kind of futuristical club
because if you do that, u can take a lot of the normal hl2 textures for the map... and what i did today is also rather futuristical
then i had a (big?) problem today: i wanted to do a nice light effect, with 8 lights in different colours which turn on and off randomly, but hammer told me that i had "Too many light styles on a face".
so i had to make the effect a bit simpler, nevertheless i think it looks nice
(the map is a bit dark now cuz i dont have any other lights in the map, except the couloured ones)
the bsp is just to give you a general idea of what im talking about
if u want the vmf, say it.

well basically deluxe just get any item that covers the floor and paint it red a blue. i used fence on g mod for that, im not much into hammer coz im crap so its probably best if you ask plas or someone thats familiar with it. good luck

I made a red and blue woodish texture a while back for the floor, but when I tried to use it in hammer is was all messed up. I'll try to remake it.
As for my abilities in hammer, they are just a little bit beyond yours, sammich. That is to say, they are pretty crappy =).

It might be better to go with white textures, low ambient light and using different coloured spot lighting (pulsing) just above floor level. Might give it a nice effect.

yeah we could do that. in fact, the map is composed of 3 to 4 different rooms, and i planned to have some really crazy rooms, and some more glamorous rooms.
the problem is: u can do nice things with lights, but if you have more than 3 lights of different styles shining one brush, hammer isnt able to do it..

Good idea, but bear in mind spot lighting will not give a dance square effect, as they create a circular effect.
But the strobes will enhance the ambience anyway.

I just now remembered, I once played a club map, with different rooms, buttons to set on discolights, a dancing stage with a discoball at the ceilling and so on. it was on a funserver, probably thepit, but I dont remember anymore. maybe someone else knows it?

I dig the crazy blue light effect (although it may be a little strong). Reminds me of those glorious days when I was making BSP holes in UED . And it looks really cool when a grenade explodes on it .
So the floor texture is done and looking sexy. It's attached to this here thing. Extract it to the following folder and enjoy (it's named discofloor):
\Valve\Steam\steamapps\*yourname*\half-life 2 deathmatch\hl2mp\materials
Let me know if the colors seem strange, the color on my monitor is kind of inconsistent .

sorry plas, maybe im just too dumb, but i placed ur textures in ur folder and i can find them also with hammer, but the textures is pink and black, as if it was some kind of error texture

You have the texture in the wrong directory. However, your directory setup is better than mine, so I'll make the texture work from the directory that you have your stuff in. Just replace the existing .vmt with the one in the .rar file attached to this here message and all should be well.
I've been working on the BOOM!!! room ^^ a bit, too. I have a fully operational and flaming antlion only damageable by stunstick (haven't tested crowbar yet) ready to be caged for the pleasure of campers or those who wish to tackle the thing, and a nifty floor .

yeah it works. i didnt know that i was supposed to extract the folder in which the textures were..
very nice texture, who many (and which) rooms do u want to have with this texture?
ok we have a lot of ideas about lights and stuff like that, but in order to make it, we need to organise all that a bit:
-we need a list of the light types and where u want to use them, coulour and brightness would also be useful
-if u want to, draw the position of the lights on the schema i made of the map
-same thing for textures
concerning the schema, the black areas are areas where u cant go in the mentionned floor- so in fact there are either walls or nothing. the white areas are areas on which u can walk

Just wanted to let you folks know that I'm thinking about the lighting and am going to see what kind of effect some of the suggestions give before I make any decisions on lighting (and to see what amount of work they require). A couple things are for sure in my mind, though
Third floor - my red and blue floor texture with a crapload of blue overhead lights (ala samwidge's pics) that go into disco mode. Disco mode being very dark with changing lights, and maybe a disco ball.
I was thinking of using diet's idea for one of the first floor rooms, as there wouldn't be interference from the lights from above.
There's also a side room on the first floor that is a dead end that could be like a utility closet type thing (somewhat dim lighting with shelves and paint cans and shovels and stuff). Or maybe a VIP room, if you catch my drift (red lighting, couches, maybe a stage with a pole).
I'll put this on deluxe's schematics when I get some time.
