nerdity at its best: WoW |
|
Hey all,
my room mate got me into wow. I start every day after work with an ice cold glass of deathmatch, then relax with the colorful MMO.
I was just wondering if any one else played on Nathrazeim.

Get out. Now.
I played for two years, at peak I was doing 8 hours a day, totaled 118 days /played when I managed to tear myself away. WoW is evil and soulless, get out while you still can.

try Guild wars
it's amazing and you don't need to pay monthly fees so you are not as pressed to play

Well, see; the deal is, I tried WoW in November and completely hated it. I found that I hated getting ganked and my character sucked. Everyone knew more than me and i sucked at PvP.
I have not subscribed, so i took some time off.
As of mid February, my room mate got me back into it. Different character, different class. Its WAY more fun when your grouper is 10 feet away. I got a better character and we even have a guild.
however; IN NO WAY IS WOW A SUBSTITUTE FOR Deathmatch. WoW is a numbers game. I need to be in the mood to play it, and even then; i get burnt out.
Deathmatch helps me blow off steam and gets the adrenaline going. It is a much more absorbing and involving game. You can't get a "holy shit" in WoW.
All wow is for me is a relaxer, taken in moderation, and never alone.
I figure i'll be done in 2 months.

Bah
Not that game, ruined my pc time (my mum plays it) Her char name is Fantastic Mumsie,:O
As for wow pffffffffffffffffffffffffftttttt
Have you seen the episode of south park, Make love not warcraft... It makes you think that wow is a cool game and that its good to have a MMO in the household... Then it impacts into a daily 8 or so hours as toothpaste said and before you know it your over run with pixies and elves run off with your funny personality. My advice, find someone who doesnt have a life to ruin.
Guys... it may be too late for norm but, never buy wow it has contaminated many with a deadly viruse also known as MMO , a virus which removes the logic from any brain and replaces it with images of elves, and before you know it you can log onto Wow just by thinking it....
I could write a book on this subject and i problably already have...
MMO's are deadly deadly i say!!!!! *sucks thumb*

I play D&D: Stormreach with one of my college buddies every now and again for my MMO fix (I think that beats WoW in the nerdity department). At the height of my DM addiction I was playing 6-8 hours a day . Only thing that got me away from the computer was work and the occasional trip to the bar.

I played wow for about a year it was fun and i played it alot but when i hit 60 and guilded up there was just a huge grind to get gear from mc and i never really pvped i was a priest. Now every once and awhile ill play shadowbane a completely free mmorpg. Leveling is really fast and you can get 2 accounts because its free and dual box by just running 2 instances and alt tabbing between. I think i hit lvl 40 in 2 days the cap is around 70ish i think. The only downside is that there are no quests and after lvl 20ish all zones are pvp even cities so you get jumped from time to time. There are alot of races and professions with tons of spells skills. Id recommend for anyone looking for some pvp and a fast leveling experiance.

I think it may be an alright game, the only issue i have with it is these guys make too much money, they have 7 million players, who play endless hours and pay monthly bills of £7. Thats too much in my oppinion, these guy value money more than loyal customers.
I feel embarressed im the only one who feels this way about Mmo rpg's

I used to feel the same way. One day, some one said, "hey norm, (nickname) why do you bash it so much without trying it?" So I tried it.
I don't like the monthly fee, so i plan on getting to lvl 60 soon and calling it done.
what more is there to say?

I just got a divorce over wow.
I would work all day, and she would play all day while I was gone, and all night. Neglecting our life, our child, and everything in between. Couldnt even get off her ass to get the bills out of the mailbox, clean the house, or feed our daughter anything more than dollar food from the local burger king. let alone build a future.
She would stay up till 5am and wake up at 8 or 9, making her the laziest person I ever saw most of the day.
I took my daughter and moved to northern Maine to be closer to my family, and give my daughter an actual life, and a nicer place to live. I sudder to think how much time played she had, I just know she was only ever not playing while I was home and awake.
So, if you want some honest advice, stay away.
The game is designed to reward your capitalist and primal instinct and keep you hooked as long as possible with no real end in sight.
HL2DM is good for 30 mins to 2 hours at a shot for me at most, the only real time I get to play being a single dad now.

Thanks people. You can all have a copy of my book (the haters of WoW)
Sad to hear about your divorce over WoW although it does seem a little strange... WoW corrupts the pc children generation and turns them in to dwarfs who run around with pixes, if you ask a inflected child hey whats 16 x 31 im doing my hw, i need some help your reply is
Hey did u see what he just said, oh w8 brb going to the toilet....

Ellrick I was in the opposite situation. Nearly lost my girlfriend over WoW. Buying a laptop so I could raid while sitting on the couch was probably all that preserved it long enough to quit. Work all day, come home and raid all night. Even off nights I was always farming, or doing PvP, or something.
I got lucky. We were most of the way through AQ40 at the time, and I just had one bad night in MC. Everyone was grumpy, I was tired of healbotting for no DKP (zero sum, so if nobody needs the gear you got nothing), and I just snapped. Halfway through the raid I decided I was quitting. So I finished the raid, announced I was quitting after Rag went down, and only went back to send off all my useful stuff to friends. I was lucky, in another week or two the guild was in Naxx, MC was mostly alt runs, and I never would have broken the addiction.
WoW is a great game, and I really miss it (especially all the stuff leading up to raiding, and the feeling the first time you down Rag, Ony, Nef). But if you have an obsessive personality it can eat you alive.

Well Linage II is more addictive than WoW
My friends play it alot! One guy even dont go out only cuz of LAII
Alot people in Russia is addicted to it and thayr lives are going down
I really am dissapointed that alot people can not handle them selves and play pc online games for 23/7 (well thay sleep..sometimes... )
I was a PC addict my self once for a month....
When MU Online stroke.... well i'm ashame now..
There is Ultima Online, really addictive too
couple of classmates are still playing it Good thing that thay aint addicted to pc that much
But ,there is one more dude..who plays Cs and WoW AND UO
Play FPS's for 3 hours a day and you will have better eye sights and go Multiply! you rabbits

Its an awful, unrewarding game.
You can literally dump months of non stop play into it, and walk away with nothing bit a flat flabby ass and poor hygiene.
I used to play with her, all the time.
It was only a problem when one of us tried to do more with our life.
But now I work out every day, spend time with my kid, and have already been with 3 chicks. 2 of which were very attractive... The other, no so much...

Im sure I read an news article about some Chinese guy dieing from playing too much games
http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/internet/02/27/china.internet.reut/index.html
It has to be WoW, never liked the game to be honest, didn't like the look of it, grahixs are just to clunky and colourful

I'm going to buy guild wars after a lengthy decision (sorry guys) I like the no monthly fee because when I play MMO RPG I dont always want to play for 6 hours @ a time or more so I think it's perfect 4 me.
Hey Shimmy do they have any expansions already I should get?
P.S.You really do look like your avatar

I own all three Guild Wars (my ex-gf made me buy those and I started to like Guild Wars. We still have our guild, it's little hard when we both are the leaders of it but I don't want to leave guild and my friends =( ) and I got to say that I really like it. You don't have to grind and level max is 20. It's more about skills than about your levels and what weapons/armors you got. There are many other good things about it but I'm too tired to say anything else =P
As for the WoW, I hate grinding = I hate WoW. Simple as that. Right after the breakup my ex-gf started to date this one guy who plays WoW. After two months they broke up, only because that guy played too much WoW. Now they are trying to get back together but as far as I know he still plays WoW too much. Lost case, if I may say.

hey ghostdog,
as far as guildwars goes...the way to go is to get prophecies it's the first campaign... the leveling is fantastic and you get to learn the ropes of the game, the mechanics the environment... when it comes to factions the second campain, get that once you finish prophecies... then nightfall which is an absolute delight to play is just the creme on top, if you want i will pm you more details... but start off with prophecies... the last expansion in the guild wars series is up will be released this Septembers... then it's guildwars 2
but overall a very nice game.... it's from the creators of Diablo which always has a sweet spot in my heart
lasty yup I am my avatar, what's weird about that lol?
in summary, play prophecies first get to know the game, once you've ascended one character to level 20, get factions or nightfall or both, so yeah with guildwars it's not about sticking to one character... i have 4 different characters at level 20, I am working on my 5th but now no time to play GW only half life 2 time due to school load...

Sorry Shimmy,I tried to post this 2 days ago but I must've forgotten to submit it on my way out,
Thanks if you could PM me some more info I'd really appreciate your help.
Whatever you feel you should be telling me for my start in Guild wars, you know the stuff you would've done w your 1st character if you would've known to but did w your second and third and so on,you know what I mean the good stuff I'd probably miss.
I didn't know that the Diablo people had made it,that's definately a bonus.
I'm looking forward to getting started.
Thanks
P.S. I don't think it's wierd you look like your avatar but if they release a half life movie I'm signing you up for casting calls
