solve for Z: [(13z)24]/45=(34z)-222+45
[312z]/45 = -7548z+45
312z+7548z = 45*45
7896z = 2025
z= 2025/7896
z = 0.256 [to 3 decimal places]

i didnt know that (34z)-222 is equal to 34z * 222 ....
by the way, is z a real number (R) or a complex number (C), because usually the letter corresponding to a complex number is z..
with z = a+ib
even though that wouldnt change a lot in ur equation.

ok - here's the deductive way:
solve for Z: [(13z)24]/45=(34z)-222+45
[312z] / 45 = 34z – 222 + 45
[312z] = 45(34z – 222 + 45)
312z = 1530z – 9990 + 2025
312z = 1530z –7965
312z - 1530z = -7965
- 1218z = -7965
z = -7965 / -1218
z = 6.5394
and here's the way using Microsoft Excel Solver:
Cell D5 will represent the variable Z - let's call this cell Z. We just leave this blank
Cell E5 will represent the answer or correct value for Z - let's call this cell answer. We put in the formula =D5
We have 2 sides of equation. In cell D7 let's put in left side using cell reference D5 or 'Z' into the formula ((13z)24)/45. This is done by typing in =((13*Z)*24)/45
Similarly Cell D8 is the right side, 34z -222+45, typed in as =(34*Z) -222+45
Now we click tools, solve (or tools , addin click solver) and we get the following screen. Essentially we tell sover to solve the 'answer' (cell E5), by changing Z (D5) in such a way to ensure that the equation is true ie that D7 = D8. Click solve and you're sorted.

z=6+(219/406)

How high did the ball travel When tossed upward at an angle of 60degrees and an initial velocity of 80m/s, with gravity at 9.8? HOW FAR DID IT GO? 4 Seconds after you let go, HOW FAST IS IT GOING?
physics has everything to do with math! and the answers arent hard to find!

i think i put up a problem i can't even solve myself . one question though.....where would we use this type of equation in the real world? i mean would a burger flipper at McDonald's need to know this? i think it is all stupid. anyway to start off the equation i think you need to "combine like terms" the two Z's need to be either added or 34z-13z which would equal 21z. i'll get the study guide from school and post all the steps on monday. i'll also get my teacher to attempt to solve it

yeah thats what diet did. and the result is correct.
and maths isnt stupid^^ its just logic thinking, it trains ur capacity to solve problems,
because maths exercices are only problems in a bit more abstract way.
and solving problems, is a thing that u cant avoid

maybe it isn't stupid but these equations are rarely found in the field of work. i agree with the logic thinking but some of us aren't logic thinkers(shimmy) and find no need for the equations. but if and when u understand the concept of these equations they make u feel pretty smart. i liked that feeling last year but everything changed when i got into highschool. except for AP history and science. that's fun

but in history u probably wont find a lot of maths

Phat - you are so wrong about such equations... they are used everywhere and I mean everywhere.
Linear programing was invented for military purposes to solve logistical problems. It has grown and grown. It's the basis for so many things, the interest rate a bank will charge to an applicant, throughput on production lines, maximisation of assets. The list is really endless.
A practical example:
A department store requires different numbers of full-time employees on different days of week. The number of full-time employees who must work on each day is as follows:
Monday 17
Tuesday 13
Wednesday15
Thursday 19
Friday 14
Saturday 16
Sunday 11
Union rules state that each employee must work five consecutive days and then have two days off. The department store wants to meet its daily requirement using only full-time employees.
What's the minimum number of full-time employees that must be hired.
This isn't the easiest of problems, but it happens all the time. The answer is 23.

..right diet.
the list is endless, another example: every technique used to encode things such as: ur emails, the credit card data u send to a server if u buy something online...
it is just pure maths,
and maths without equations - is not really maths-
last example:there are thousands of equations used in hl2:dm to get the game running, without them ur game wouldnt work.
so are these equations really useless??

OK...all i'm saying is math is a hard subject and I(notice the word "I") find no use for such. but that's just me!!! just go be the president of the US or something!! my god if u know everything i'll vote for ur second term!! in fact anyone can be the next pres...bush is a fool. (not because he doesn't know math....yeah i read ur comeback before u thought of it so HA!)

Math is a wonderful thing. I'm not as good at it as I once was, but I always love farting around with numbers. But yeah, once you get into chemistry fun things start to happen mathematically . I just hope I never have to do systematic treatment at equilibrium for a triprotic acid or base ever again. It ain't that hard but boy golly is it tedious (a good 40 minutes for a problem when you actually know what's going on)...especially when you forget that the system you are dealing with is buffered ...

woooo math. |

You really can't avoid math no matter what field you go into. If you go into History, you won't need to learn all that much math, but you will need to learn how to analyze data, and that is math.
I hated Math when I was first in Highschool, but believe me, you want to learn this basic stuff well, or you will have a lot of unnecessary hard times when you find yourself needing to use it.
Don't worry, though: you will not need to subject yourself to the tedium of solving equations like that by hand as soon as you get into a higher math class. You'll get a graphing calculator that will be able to solve all the equations you can throw at it.
And Breen, I'm sorry to break it to you, but Quantum physics involves some of the most involved math that has been developed to date.
I'm learning some basic quantum right now, and in order to start learning it at all you need to understand Newtonian Mechanics and E&M stuff, and have a working knowledge of Calculus and statistics.
Sure, you can pick up some trivia about quantum physics by reading magazines or whatever, but if you actually want to know any of it, you need the math and classical physics.
