A few you might recognize me from the Killbox TSGK servers, anyways you might be seeing less of me because today when tried to connect to the server it said I was VAC banned.

I have have never cheated before and I am not even sure there is a point of cheating in HL2:DM (the only game I played on this account).. It's not like you can shoot through walls and there aren't very many walls in a killbox so wall hacking is pointless. Aim hacking also pointless with xbow because you have to shoot ahead of your targets anyways. (xbow was my main weapon)

So really unlikely I would hack.. only reason I could think VAC might have claimed me to be a hacker is because I have Visual Studio 2005 installed. For some reason I crash a lot on the TSGK servers and whenever HL2 crashes, Visual Studio asks me if I want to debug this task.. Sometimes I click yes accidentally and brings up instruction dump of where HL2 crashed. This might be interpreted by VAC as an attempt to edit HL2 process memory which it may not like.. Needless to say I am pretty pissed off as being labeled a cheater and if you know Steam's NAZI ways they will not disclose any information to you about the ban, nor will they allow you to dispute the ban. Not much I can do and I don't feel like giving them more money given the circumstances.

Anyways when Episode 2 comes out I might make a new account and get back to DM.. Until then peace out.

Indeed, we don't really know what list of cheat VAC2 is looking, but Valve claim it is 100% accurate and false positives are improbable because each cheat are individualy added to the VAC2 database, so they never come back on a VAC ban.
Also, it should have detect a cheat long time before it finaly VAC banned you, VAC2 is scanning the memory everytime you connect to a VAC Secure server looking for a cheat signature, i have no idea if the Visual Studio memory debuging has been considered as a cheat.

I should add I only started playing HL2:DM since I formatted about a month ago and this is the steam account that has it. I have not used this steam account recently since I formatted, usually I use the steam account with my HL1 games on it. I am scared to go onto that account not know what caused the ban. So had to of happened since the last month of play.

I am the only one who uses this computer, I have never had a virus since format and I usually never get viruses and when I do I make sure they are gone. I have far more important information on this computer than my steam accounts so I tend not to do anything that would compromise it.

I do develop software and I have used memory editors before for debugging but I have never used them to edit HL2 memory contents although I might have accidently left it running in the background when I ran HL2. Not that it's doing anything to memory when it's running, it's just a process steam might have banned. There are perfectly legit reasons to be using the application so it is scary if that cause it.

That sucks dude. I've played with this chap quite a bit (I'm plasmodesmata, jasper beardly, or bob). Nothing about him strikes me as odd...just good with the xbow Very Happy

I read some posts on other forums and i think that VAC is unUNbananable:/
I men that bans are Permament and you cant do anything Sad

I certainly wasn't suspicious when I've played with you either. That sucks if someone used your account or Visual Studio caused it.

report the case to Steam Support, and VAC bans are reversable,

send the dump files to them (if any) and pics, everything you feel like is relevant

i was VAC banned for 1 week beacouse of a in Game Mp3 player for CS 1.6, i explained, sent the player's files, and now no one will ever get baned, and the guys that got banned beacouse of it are debanned!

thats how it works, mainly, Theres allways hope man!
