It arrived at last. The main console got held up at customs (cost 42 euro to release it :/)

I tried it last night. Very frustrating. USB problems, messing with device manager, d/l drivers etc - a lot of hassle. Problems with nVent (their version of Steam)...

On the plus side, it is a serious piece of kit - larger and heavier than you would expect. It's well made and designed. I'm not convinced that the trigger is perfected - it could do with a lot more design ergonomically, especially around the side buttons. The US transformer is about the size of a small double decker bus :O

Because it's still not a popular device, there isn't a lot of help articles online for it aside from the novint website.

I eventually got it to work and tried the tutorial. Only then did I get a sense of what it could offer in terms of gaming experience. Essentially I was moiving a virtual hand over and around a virtual ball. I could literally 'feel' the different surfaces of the ball. Hard to explain but it was fascinating.

I played a little bit of Episode 1 but constantly spun around on the spot. And also a bit of left 4 dead. I couldn't find any separate settings panel for the falcon even though the Orange Box games now natively support it. I suspect I will be posting a few questions on the novint forum. Certainly it's a device more suited to single player games

So my initial reaction is mixed. It could go either way - I'll either be a big fan of it or I'll be posting it off to Nana in frustration...

EDIT
Got it working now. Incorrectly installed drivers was the problem. Played L4D and it was fun (single player).

All in all I'm happy with it now. But it's not worth the money (unless a lot more games support it).

It reminds me of arcade gaming.

A good thing.
