Yeah.. its wierd how just some 5 fps can improve your in-game perfomance( skill )..

Last month, before i got a new gfx card, i have 15 AVERAGE fps, and 100 ping, my kpd was about 1.10

nowadays, i have a tid bit more fps and my kpd gets to 1.43 ?

did i improve alot or did the upgrade help ?

God if i had a Ultra-High end computer..

Toughts??....

I would agree with you here. A better computer will help you play better. Up at college here I play on my rig with sli and a dual core processor, the game is just smooth. Back at home over breaks I only bring my laptop home and I can't react nearly as fast as I'm used to, the game just responds slower.

my cable internet connection is sporadic and sometimes I get crap speeds. (usually on sunday nights) so sometimes I run a speed test before playing (yeah I know .. lame!!)... and .. something I have noticed.. if my speeds are crap.. It affects my game play by a bit. not too much though.

I´m not sure about that it have to be really a high price Mouse or Keyboard but my wireless Equipment can frustrate me sometimes. I click, click and click and it reacts just 0.01 Seconds too late to make it... Wink

The same happens sometimes with the Nade/Gravgun Combo. i just loose the Nade into the Air and land exactly on it for a proper Suicide. Very Happy

Cheap or expensive. Most important - especially for the Mouse - is the Cable i guess.

no, not really..

RAM is good for constant fps

if i had 2gb of RAM i would have 220 in-game fps!, The UI, at least mine, shows up at 220

(i have 256mb Razz)

Sure...especially with precision weapons like the mag. When you factor in the potentially higher resolutions and the smoothness of gameplay that good machines can give, far off targets will be easier to pick out of the background and you'll be able to get a more accurate picture of the battlefield. Both allowing for greater accuracy in a greater number of situations. That being said, a skilled player will be able to make the most out of the equipment they do have and compensate for the choppiness of the game (say, for example, by using weapons that have a wide damage area like physics and nades).

well with fps concerned of course it matters
i mean running a game at settings that give you 8 fps will make the game so choppy, this will render you useless to react.

a good graphic card coupled with good amount of ram
a good processor
bear in mind hl2 dm is a 2 year old game
the present day graphic card completely stomp it to the floor when it comes to fps

when it comes to input devices... the high end mice have around a 1ms lag response time... that's pretty impressive when it comes to the cheaper mice, they usually have 8 ms response time and that is very slow

so you are truly paying for good quality products and drivers...

logitech and razer are the leading gaming mice manufacturers and it does a huge difference especially for high sensitivity players as the tracking is super precise.

a good gaming mouse pad also helps out

the keyboard: gaming grade is considered to be when you can press over 7 keys and the computer recognizes the keystrokes that's about it...

Very Happy

My HL2DM performances have been increased since i have replaced my logitech wireless MX1000 for a logitech MX518 and replaced my wireless logitech keyboard for a cheap keyboard with cord.

The next step for me is to remove my wireless network hehe. I'm sure it's better to play with cable.

Wireless is for office work on the laptop while eating breakfast. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Mind you, I'm thinking of getting a wired kb + mouse; my aiming precision is crap. That's why I like playing dm_killroofz, where you can fly around flinging oildrums. Without that map, I'd have about half my current score and a KPD below .25

hi lawitz .
As far as I know you need to get your fps as high as poss. its like a video camera more frames per second the smoother the game will run.you will have to axcuse me but I don't know what fraps is though Embarassed Embarassed
I have a purpose built games machine with dual core amd prosessor 2 gig of ram and AvRack graphics and i get about 120 fps normaly on a good server.
