so valve brought out the game and what is there (not) in the options? right, no other crosshairs like in cs etc.
This is very bad since the original crosshair isnīt all that great for many players I think. But there is a way changing it to something better.

mine is this (also used by some KBH members (so its good for headshots I think):

A word of warning guys - some of the Bullseye Xhairs are known to be off centre slightly (affects distance shots mostly). Details here: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=514272

You can find more accurate xhairs at team cyn and xe:

http://www.team-cyn.com/files/cyn^Nate_Crosshair_Guide.zip (you need to cut and paste all this link, it doesnt work as a clicky!)

www.xe-team.de

Hope that helps,
WonderB.

Forgot to add - if you decide on an xhair from the bullseye site (or other with a diff colour) and want a different colour - the easiest way is to download a xhair set (of the colour you want) from the xe-team website.

You can then use the clientscheme.res file from the pack you download and just place it in your resource folder. I did this myself and it works great and saves doing it manually. Very Happy

well i use the one in the pic above and that seems to be acurate to me
changing the colour is not too hard and it tells you how in the buleye site on one of the three pages but it doesn't work in zoom the colour is still yellow. but having said that I find aiming fine now cause the crosshair lines are thicker... Very Happy Very Happy

None of em work in colour in zoom to the best of my knowledge.

Bullseye does indeed tell you how to do them in colour - all I was saying is its easier just to use the clientres file from xe, but end result is the same Very Happy

We have clan members who use Bullseye xhairs without problem, I personally got rid of mine as it was off. Only passing on info in the hope it helps Very Happy

Hi samwich.
If you goto the bulseye site for your x hair they give full instructions that are so easy that even I MANAGED IT
there are 3 pages each with different things you can do but if you select the page to replace the crosshair it is so much clearer that colour changr is not nesesary.
Oooh one thing to say..... they dont say that you cant open the cfg file unless you select properties and change the file name to notepad. If you dont do this windows just says (windows needs to know what prog created it to open it.) Ok hope that helps......

READ THIS it tells all and if you want any more info on it look in this forum under my post on crosshairs in hl2 help there is a link from lawitz in there for the bullseye site.

Changing the Crosshair Color - Multiplayer Only

Tired of the pale white/yellow crosshair? Want something green or red? We've learned of a way to change the color of the crosshair in the Multiplayer game. (Still searching for the right file/method for changing it in single player.) Note that since the configuration change effects all the fonts inside the file that contains the crosshair, your weapon pics will change to this color also.

You'll first need to get a copy of GcfScape to open the file. You can download a copy at the homepage of it's creator here: http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?p=26 Then follow the instructions below.

Step By Step Instructions
1. Open the "half life 2 deathmatch.gcf" with GcfScape. This file is located in your steamapps folder.

2. Inside the gcf, go to "root/hl2mp/resource"

3. In the resource folder, find a file called "Clientscheme.res".

4. Right click on the file, and select "extract".

5. Extract it to "Steamapps/<youraccountname> /half life 2 deathmatch/hl2mp/resource". If the resource folder doesn't exist yet, create it.

6. Open the newly extracted file using notepad or any text editor/word processor.

7. Scroll down a bit until you see this block of text:

// HL1-style HUD colors
"Yellowish" "255 160 0 255"
"Normal" "0 125 0 255"
"Caution" "255 48 0 255"

You want to change the values behind "normal". First number is the amount of red, second the amount of green, third the amount of blue, and fourth how opaque it is. Maximum value for each is 255. If, for example, you wanted the brightest green crosshair you could get, change the line to read as follows: "Normal" "0 255 0 255".

8. Save the file. Then right click on it in Explorer or My Computer, go to Properties, and make it read-only. This is to prevent Steam from overwriting it with the original, which it attempts to do each time you start the game.

That also means that if Valve changes the HUD structure in any way that effects the Clientscheme.res file in a future update, it won't take in your game until you remove the Read Only restriction. Then you will get the updated file the next time you play. And of course, you will then have to go through the above procedure again to reset the color to your liking.

Also because of the automatic overwrite feature of HL2, if you screw up the Clientscheme.res file in any way or want to go back to the original crosshair/hud color, just delete the file out of the resource folder, or remove the Read Only restriction in Properties, and the old one will be back the next time you start the game.
