PostPosted: Sat Jan 20, 2007 06:31    Post subject: TSGK Marathon V2
Event starting Sat Jan 27, 2007 01:00 for one day

A lot of people missed the first marathon and request a second one (i've gotten a lot of requests).

TSGK Marathon V2 is scheduled for Saturday 27 January, 2007.
Start at 0h00 GMT+1 and end at 0h00 GMT+1 the other day (Sunday), which mean you are playing for 24h the whole Saturday (for those who get confused then begin Friday at 23h59 and finish Saturday at 23h59).

During those 24h you must play on TSGK Servers only except Serv X (we can't track sessions outside TSGK Servers network).
If you sign up for this marathon you don't have to play 24h of course.
To sign up, just add your name and how many time you hope to play, registrations are open for everyone.
Good luck and have fun.

Time Zone conversion:
GMT+2: Saturday 1h00 to Sunday 1h00
GMT+1: Saturday 0h00 to Sunday 0h00
GMT: Friday 23h00 to Saturday 23h00
GMT-5: Friday 18h00 to Saturday 18h00
GMT-6: Friday 17h00 to Saturday 17h00
GMT-8: Friday 15h00 to Saturday 15h00

Health care: Eat, drink, take some breaks and do not surpass your limit.
24h is the maximum, after 24h the marathon ends and we stop to track sessions for the marathon.
All participation at the TSGK marathon is at your own risk and responsibility.

Result of the TSGK Marathon V1 organized by Cynyx is available here:

I'm in ...

My objectives :
-> play more than 20h21 ^^.
(i have lost one hour with a shitty deconnection on the beginning of the previous marathon)
-> make 6000 frags. A real challenge ... Need to play more on american shitty ping server...
-> keep a kpd > 2.0
-> don't be a little drunk on the beginning.
-> sleep a real night the day before ...

hehe Osiris ... It seems you have found a way to force player to play in order to accelerate the new rankings system Wink

15 hours isn't a challenge Rublis ... because in fact the last hours are difficult, and a player who sleep can easyly beat a player who don't. a little unfair if u say "i participate in the marathon"

Advices :
-> buy 2 pizzas (easy to cook, and full of many good things)
-> drink cola (i have drunk 4.5 liter for the previous, cafeine hehe)
-> MAKE PAUSE ... at least each 3 hours ... and take time to lunch (make real lunch 1/2 hour - 1 hour)
-> Organize ur life the day before ... do all the things that u have to do. A such event need to be prepared. Don't forget after a 24 hours playing, ur sunday is useless ...
-> don't break your limit !!! Be responsable !

A last thing, BE HONNEST ... Deconnect when you are not in play !

You are all crazy, cynyx wtf man, once wasnt enough huh. I thought i was crazy the first time, but to know others did it and then say you want to aswell, well ya all mad. Count me out for sure, my hands still ache from when i played last time. 22 hours in 24 is enough for me, anyone beats it then congrats but after seeing other players manage it and say

1 how boring it was
2 how annoying it was
3 how it still effecting my play now (you too cynyx uve slowed down since)
4 how unforfilling it actually was
5 DONT DO IT, if you value this game you'll regret it, i havnt wanted to play since
6 its really bad for you, very tiring, aching muscle, bad eyes, painful left hand, and no ones cares anyway.

Then why would you even want to??

I was up for it the first time, but i stressed never to do it again, and try and stop anyone else from doing it, come up with a challange you actually get something out of rather than one that puts you off the game. Looking back, all this demonstaites is that i really need to get a life.
If you choose not to listen to me then Ill support any player that is going to do it through their time playing, the worst thing is not having anyone around you can have fun with, and after the players who helped me, i cant not return the favour. Good luck you crazy fools. Cynyx find a hobby Smile

PostPosted: Mon Jan 22, 2007 00:32    Post subject: Although

i actually agree with Fyckfaco and think its a bad idea to play for that long.
This could be a health hazard to people that play for more than 10 hours.
-it can cause epilepcy
-it can cause serious migraines
-it can cause self ingury
-it can cause blood clot
-it can cause constant eye strain
-it alters sleep pattern

Seriously rethink about how long you are going to play on the 27th of january.
If your still thinking Im gonna go for ages -
Take lots of breaks, drink lots of water !SLEEP! do not think this is a good thing playing 24h in a row, just a few hours is enough its dangerous.
you should atleast have a break every 1 - 2 hours and atleast a 30 minute to hour break.
Thankyou.

I'm going to achieve world peace, fusion power and hang-over free alcohol during those 24 hours. But I might drop in and say hello on my tea break.

When u run a marathon (42 kms), it's also boring and very hard at the end. The aim : prove you are able to do this, push your limits. But at the end, your are proud to say "YEAH , i have done it" .
For me, it's the same principle for a HL2DM marathon.

After talking with a few members who wish to take part, I should point out that spectating or AFK is not playing, and if you need to take a break, disconnect. I spectated a maximum of 25 mins in the whole 24 hours, and i was never AFK. No cheating lol. If you do , you are a banana face like this guy ^^

B-b-b-but...I wanna be a banana face Sad . Guess I'm gonna have to cheat Razz .

Anyways, my intention is to stay up until like 7-8am friday and wake up promptly at 4:30pm...ready to kick some bum (being unemployed and out of school has some advantages...I guess Confused ). My strategy is pretty much: take breaks to walk the dog every few hours and occasional breaks for various exercises to get blood flowing through the legs again. Eat real food...limited caffeine intake (my crashes are weird when sleep deprived). No booze Sad . Keeping hydrated. Some games without audio. Maybe some drugs for when joint pain gets bad. A pair of clean socks on hand to cushion the junction between keyboard and desk. Some Shostakovich on hand to accompany my descent into insanity Cool .

Good luck to everyone Very Happy . Stay safe, healthy, and honest.
