What Monitor? |
|
Folks,
I've decided that my wife will buy me a new monitor for Christmas. But which one of these --> http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna/productlisting.aspx?c=ie&category_id=211&cs=iedhs1&image_flag=True&l=en&s=dhs&show_summary=False
Will I go for? The cheaper one seems better to me? Any advice (but don't tell me to not buy Dell!)
Cheers

in the forum you can find reviews, maybe youīll find yours there too.
but why does it have to be a dell?

I dont say that dell is bad in tfts, I just donīt like it when people are relying on one manufacturer because it has a name without considering looking at other manufacturors models. but in your case its different, just didnīt know.

Ok dude
if you want flat panels get anything below 8ms refresh rate
and get a widescreen they are a beauty to game on.
komplett.ie has good stuff if you want to order off the net
what's ur budget?
check these babies out
LG 20" LCD L204WT TCO-03 Black/Silver 1680x1050, 5ms, 2000:1, DVI/VGA
http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=324783
Samsung 20" LCD Syncmaster 205BW TCO03, Silver, 1600x1050, 6ms, VGA/DVI, 700:1
http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=322266
LG 19" LCD L194WT TCO-03, Silver, 1440x900, 5ms, 2000:1, DVI/VGA
http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=324781
Acer 19" LCD AL1916WAs TCO99 Monitor, Widescreen, Silver/Black, 500:1, 8ms

I highly recommend the 20 inch LG wide screen.

monitor. |
|
Hi diet.
I after much deleberation bought a vedio 7 model no L19wd monitor for just over 129 pounds. at first I wasnt sure i bought the right one because it was in wide screen format. but as I am sure you know there is a setting in hl2 for the graphics in wide screen, and now I am well pleased with my purchase. it has a 6 milisecond refresh rate, and operates on 60 hz so it has a much faster refresh rate and responce time than most other more expensive models and makes out there. the only thing i would say is that if you are using a 17 in tft as i was then the 19 wide screen is only larger in the width. And there for i would of gone for a 20 inch wide screen or larger. BUT if you go larger you will find that the responce times get worse (ie)slower the bigger you go. so in the end i was satisfied that I had bought the screen with the best graphics, responce time and biggest screen that I could buy without spending 4 or 500 pounds.
Hope this helps you in your decision.if u need any more help you know where to find me.

for gamers 17" is the ideal, anything smaller or bigger just makes the gaming harder. smaller makes it harder to see far and aim, bigger makes it hard to get a good overview. but this is for people who mostly play games, normal users should buy what they can afford.

my screen is great too but does it doesnīt change the fact that there are a lot of better ones. donīt buy something because the brand is known well, check reviews, and even better user reviews because normal reviews are often paid and so they put it in a good light even if the product ainīt that great.

You should try using a pencil m8, easier to rub out mistakes.
