I've been throwing my money at the screen for years and it finally took it!

I can't describe how good this company/game is but I'll try, official pre purchase became available last night and I ordered at midnight on the dot.

Basically, take the good parts of MMO's and ditch the boring stuff, add in a huge FPS influence and large MOBA influence and you have guild wars 2.Also, ditch the monthly fees but withhold the "pay to win" cash shop, a zero commitment MMO, you buy it and that's it, don't feel like playing? Put it on the shelf and pick it up when you feel like it (my favorite part) Don't feel like grouping up? You can solo the majority of the game.

Shimmy and I both already know arenanet is a very good studio, they will not disappoint, in my opinion they have the best artists in the industry but I'm biased, although many would agree that they definitely have the best music composer in Jeremy Soule hands down and skilled, innovative designers.

Between the dynamic events, giant world vs world battles (24/7 join when you want, leave when you want) and the epic holiday events I think you guys would have a blast playing this, not to mention arenanet loves to give and makes customers happy. I've been waiting a long time for this game and they made it right, I wouldn't be talking so highly of it if they didn't, it's highly inclusive ie you don't have to work hard on a character to play, also the pvp is scaled so everybody is even with no godlike stat items, a level playing field.

If you are even slightly interested, watch these vids to get a grasp of it all (keep in mind most of this footage is from the alpha version),

I think TB summed it up nicely after his press beta,

Game is now going into the beta with weekend beta testing once a month until release, still no official release date because they develop with the "when it's done" philosophy, imo that's why it's so good. Judging by the progress I would be shocked if it weren't released before Christmas, it's very close to completion and this is the third and final beta (in house beta, press beta and now game owner beta).

Clearly I'm hyped, if you do buy it I'll be there to play with you when desired (soloing is a developer intended option) and you might see a Shimmy on occasion too, just a hunch.

I want to see actual game play 1st, quite often these trailers have no bearing on what you actually do in game.

That is the gameplay my friend, well the first video is cinematic up to 0:46 then the rest is in game with fancy camera angles, the second video is all gameplay and in game environments.

The third is just totalbiscuit mucking around trying to play and comment at the same time.

This should give you a good overview of what to expect, it's an MMOrpg but the combat is not traditional to an MMO it's based highly on action, you have to aim your projectiles and most melee skills, timing and trajectory are a factor. This is done very well.

http://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/combat/ there are more combat articles with this one at the bottom of the page or,

See here's the fancy dragon from the trailer,

The developers say he is "medium sized".

Here is some beta world vs world action,

Being an MMo there are small quests that consist of "kill 10 of these give me their drops" etc but as the developers said, you don't have to do those at all, you can level up with world vs world, organized PvP or PvE dynamic events all the way to max and not be handicapped because of it.

The game as a whole is very inclusive to all types of gamers, and the system requirements are very fair, your system would probably max this game in HD and because they focus on optimization it still looks ahead of all MMO's, world vs world might stutter a little with 1000+ people in the zone but they are working on optimizing WvW as we speak.

I forgot to mention I found this skill calculator I'm using to make future PvP builds, it's a match to the in game system so you can play around with it and see the different attacks, skills, effects and weapon combinations.

Play with this for a few minutes and you will have a good idea how you will be fighting.

Just choose a profession and go from there.
