try setting your windows clock back a year or so, some programs start working again if you do that.

Not that I found, thats the one I used. I just changed everything in that time period and kept a backup copy of the fonts. You can change all of the Lettering as well for your HP, etc. If I pick up an RPG it has the words NOOB written above it as well as some funky stuff for some of the other Fonts.

I found a tutorial at XE teams website to make your crosshair even better. you can remove the transparency that is there despite the 255 opacity and add a black outline.
first you may want to change your color and extract your clientscheme.res, its covered here: http://www.bullseyecrosshairs.com/hl2sites3.shtm
I use 255 0 0 255 which is the highest red with the highest opacity.
then press ctrl+f in editor/wordpad in the clientscheme.res and search for "crosshairs".
you will find a line like this:

add a line called "outline" "1", this will give your crosshair an outline. then change the "additive" "1" to "0", this will remove the transparency of your crosshair.

you can additionally change the size of your crosshair with the "tall" line if its too big or too small for you.
when you have such a crosshair it will not blend in with bright maps anymore, for example killbox kbh.

For me the crosshair isnt much of a pointer but i use it to do longshots and stuff like that
I have changed only the crosshair to Nate's Small dot and set the enterface plane white and im happy with that i now see all the info about what i picked up when im fighting pikpik or some Other good player that pwns me and i do etter since then
As for Lawitzes xhair...xD lol well you like what you like,but i prefer my setup altho it blends with the lights in the map but i still do headshots to flying players Maybe its just the reflexes lol

Iīm using the same crosshair as you but because of my higher resolution it looks bigger. I may reduce its size a bit maybe (the added outline made it a bit bigger)

my game had a glitch where I suddenly had "outline 1" active, so it was fully colored, completely non-seethrough like it used to be. It went on and off and then on again during a game but it would stay. But it only worked for that one startup of the game. And I had my hopes up that valve finally had fixed the issue. I wish there was a way to trigger this glitch manually.

Ok so I saw the material command called "$additive" "0" (This removes all black if set to 1).
So try and add one of these commands to try and glitch.
1 = On
0 = Off

tried all those commands in the clientscheme.res but no changes. I had the bug again today though but it was gone after starting the game again.
