I think I need to play Half-Life 2 again Very Happy

Makes me scared for dm tho. No more speed runs in hl2, the ob code took bunny hop, strafe jump, high jump and one move nade grav throwing Sad( What do i get in return?? Motion blur.. Fuck

Yup the update will pretty much screw up killbox gamplay. We're unlikely to see dm port to mac though, xbox 360 and ps3 never got it with OB games, i dont see why they would port it just for mac.
But if they do, it will definatly lose the movement features as they are not possible on ob code without additional work. And since valve would have only worked on the ob dedicated server code from ob engine, they would have no choce but to update dm fully to support macs.

Either, we lose all the stuff that makes dm great and get left with Css with futuristic guns, and get a load of mac users running about using stylus pads to move...
Or we get no update.

THe only other option is that valve are taking time to get the convertion right, and are attempting fix and improve what we have come to love, ie animated bunny movement, weapon fixes, 357 lag issues. But we all know that aint gonna happen, especially for a game which is technically free.

You know what I think the death of HL2DM would be because of a valve update removing bunny hop, strafe jump, nade and gravity gun combo etc. I would still play (well try to adjust) but alot of people would leave I think.

I understand the worry, but I have 2 separate hl2dm orange box ports and the movement is just fine.

don't worry about hl2dm

HL2 and HL2DM is updated separately


The last time i actually read a news update on HL2DM was in 2005 (the day they nerfed grav jumping)

Obviously there have been updates since, but minor stuff like engine updates

Oh the irony Very Happy People want some things tweaked and nerfed , but the update kills the gameplay , so ppl pray so the update wont be applyed xD THats just wrong. Confused
