Vice City
I personally like Vice City a lot great story, buy businesses, 80s music and Scarface (film) theme, easter eggs/secrets (like man in sea with stone shoes), big improvement from GTA 3. Miami, Florida was a nice setting for the game.
San Andreas
San Andreas was the best, story, music went well with theme, map 100% bigger then Vice City, street gangster theme, improved the game so much. You could swim/dive, eating adds weight to player model, custom\mod cars, reply nice or negative to people, recruit people off streets to join you, steal items from houses, fly big plans and many other types of vehicles, level your character up, easter eggs/secrets, even gangsters come up to your car pushing it trying to tip it over. Again I could go on for ever with features. (played this game for a good 2 years/still play now time to time on ps3)
GTA 4
I got GTA 4 on the release date, I even took 2 hours off college just to buy and have quick play, big fan.
"Was thinking, wow can't wait last GTA features and improves were perfect this is going to be good"
I didn't like GTA 4 was a real big shock, did have a big graphics improvements don't get me wrong, but developers took all the great features out that made GTA fun, over the top and funny things even the planes got removed. The game also tired to be more real (car on fire jump out then die from fall). Feels like I was playing Driv3r best way I can put it lol. I think features got removed to save disk space for new graphics, DVD was used again same as the last gen game, developers had problems then with space with San Andreas.
(Went back to college went in class, friends goes so GTA4 is out today "err yeah think so") so thats where you were!
Thats my opinion also with game facts, pick up a copy of San Andreas if you never played it.

The fist GTA was the one i played the most.
Great times, hehe.
GTA 2, played very little.
GTA 3 played a bit in PS2 from a friend.
GTA Vice City, sometimes in PS2 from a friend to.
GTA San Andreas Bought for the PC, and i loved it, played many hours to.
GTA 4, i cant say much yet, will judge after i finish. but so far, i think im liking it more than the others. yes, many features gone... but it didnt bothered me, GTA 4 feels more mature.. The city is amazing, cause of the graphics improvements for sure, everything looks a bit more realistic and more alive. and the motorbikes are awesome in this one!! the handling arent that realistic....but the fun comes 1st! _________________

The 2D nostalgia is always a drive for me. Nothing like firing up GTA and standing outside that park waiting for the orange men to come along so you can mo them down.
GTA 3 is my favourite to play, loved the levels and the concept, Vice city just topped off GTA 3 and made it the best game eva. Didn't really enjoy Sandreas due to the size (too big), and the final GTA though graphically I thought was immense, it felt like the concept of GTA had died. I just found it way too life like, like the fun of the first 2 3d ones had been taken out of it.
All the same GTA is always going to be one of them games that set new boundaries in gaming. _________________

GTA Vice City was my fav - Speedin along to The Cult's 'She Sells Sanctuary' as the sun set was a gaming moment for me.
San Andreas began to annoy me - I simply got lost too many times. Will probably give it another go in the future.
I was loving GTA4 until I had too many problems with crashes. All the stupid online stuff made it a pain to play also. _________________ Two parts hydrogen, one part oxygen with all the fat taken out
