Subject description: to prevent hi-jackings

apparrantly this has been out for 2 months but just learned about it today.
in steam go to file->settings and then "verify email adress". you will be sent an email with a link. click it and now your account is safe from hackers because in order to hack your account now they would have to have access to your email account.

in case anyone else has such a problem: just change your email adress in steam before verifying. even if you already sent the mail to verify you can change the email and re-send the verification mail.

that is until you verify your account (click the link in the mail), you can send the mail a hundred times, but only until you click that link in one of them and the account is verified, after that you are protected from hackers. lets say I have bought the games with an old email adress which is not used anymore. so I changed it to the email adress I use right now and verified it. now only with access to this email account the account details like password can be changed. not sure what you have to do if you lose your email account after verifying though. contact the customer support maybe.

I still dont see why it improves security.
Maybe im seing things wrong, but, most likely, 70% of steam users use same pass as the email one. ive debated this a lot with some friends, most people use the same pass for a bunch of things.

mines not fortunately as its a private mail provider (namely my dads site), but countless passwords just lead to confusion for me Rolling Eyes
