Forum Shoutbox and Emoticons |
|
As noticed, a new Shoutbox has been set at the index of the Forum, all registered users are allowed to post a message into it at anytime and everyone can see them including guests.
Shoutbox purpose is a simple way to post anything quickly without opening a new tread especialy for a message which doesn't really need a reply or whatever it's up to anyone what you do want to do with it.
For now the last 30 messages are shown (could be increased, decreased later or turned into daily basis... would depend on its activity) and it does refresh itself every 2 minutes via a frame if you still let your browser opened.
Its current location at the forum could be changed later if we do think it has to be moved somewhere else (currently under the calendar).
Shoutbox is set and ready but still be considered as an "experimental" addition for now.
Also, Emoticons have been increased to +500, you can see the whole list if you click the "View more Emoticons" link when posting a message (also available at the Shoutbox).
Example of emoticon:
That's it for the forum additions.
Enjoy.

Sweet work
Can the screen scolling on the forum index just move the main screen instead of having to move to the bottom of the text box, before moving down the rest of the forum index page.
I would prefer to have to click on the text area to scroll through the text as a seperate operation to the main screen.

It is not possible, this is more related to your browser options, so there may be a way to set this in your browser options somewhere or not.
Or increase the number of lines at a time your mouse wheel scrolls.
This is for now the only navigation issue that we noticed since the Shoutbox was moved at the top, which was the reason it was set at the bottom at the first place but then wasn't noticed and didn't get much interest.
We also cannot lock the scrolling neither set the shoutbox as a static table with a delimited number of messages for obvious reason, its size would be completly random because of the different message's lenght.
If this is a general issue for a majority of users, we will then move it back to the bottom until we can mod a different location (like left or right side).
Thanks for the feedback.

Wainting for more feedback about it.
It is not a problem, but could be considered as annoying for some users.
If you are scrolling the forum down with your mouse wheel and if the cursor is passing (or is over) the shoutbox frame at that time, it will then scroll the shoutbox instead of the forum page, so you will slighty have to scroll a bit more, or to make sure the cursor isn't over the frame before scrolling down.
