Tried it on a friends system and it seems nice. This whole situation with Vista kinda reminds me of their Windows Me(Mistake Edition) fiasco Very Happy IMO the funny thing is is that Vista is not too far from being a good OS with the release of SP1 and some other fixes but I think the bad start plus the bad press has doomed it. Also the heavy amount of resources like RAM, CPU, and GPU required to run it properly. Seems to me like their strategy is to move away from Vista as fast as possible at this point. So hopefully Windows 7 will be better and stick around longer like XP did.

I think you could be right about the strategy about moving away from vista the press did hit hard. It could be a money thing being when windows 7 is out the new retail computers will have it installed as standard.

Also a rumor is that microsoft are going to show the xbox 720 this year (abit early). Are they going to abandon the 360 like they did with the first xbox, or cause of 360 hardware problems.

I think they will change the ring color to blue this time, so it looks more user friendly for when you get the three blue rings of death Laughing

Well I just loaded Windows 7 onto an old 40GB HDD on my main system. So heres my screenshot. Literaly just got through the install, put in most drivers and nosed about for a minute or two so it's all stock. Looks like it uses a little less RAM than Vista at no load but not much less. Fewer processes running but havent looked into what they knocked out. Maybe just bundled more .dll's/services into fewer svchost.exe's? Not really sure yet.

Unused RAM is WASTED RAM, try to remember that krazimu, that is the most basic features of Vista and 7.

I'm on XP, and i have 2GB of RAM, the maximum it ever used was 1.5GB when i was playing Crysis and Bioshock at the same time, yeah, 500MB scratching their balls.

2gb is not enough for the newest games I think, when I play GTA IV it uses up to 1900mb+ and lots of things are pushed into the virtual memory.

some people call it a vista service pack and that it should be free for all vista owners. too bad microsoft isnīt interested in that. it would put them in a very good light if they did.

I have it loaded and it looks like Vista but works like XP with directx 10.
It runs crysis warhead in directx 10 better than Vista does Smile

It is still not as fast as XP on hl2dm but very close to it ... might just be a driver problem .

I paid for XP/Vista and will feel a bit pissed if Microsoft make me pay full price for Windows 7 as all it is XP with bells on Mad

leaked Microsoft document suggests the firm will allow computer manufacturers to offer customers a cheap or even free upgrade from Vista to Windows 7. The deal would likely apply to people buying a Vista machine after July 1.
