It's really REALLY cold outside, more than usual. So i had nothing to do because it's REALLY REALLY cold, So i started playing DM and opti mentioned the magical words... OVERCLOCK!

What a marvelous idea! I practicaly don't need a fan on on the CPU

So i pushed it at 3.46GHz, i'm afraid of going any further, but it's wicked stable and the temperatures are very suspicious, That, or either it's definatly cold in here.

worthless info: 495M x 7.0 (Doesn't go for more than 7x) Sad

pic: I would like some feedback regarding the temperatures, specificaly the 119ºC @ Power Aux

Thanks for the idea opti Very Happy

do you leave your window open or what? there are people who do that in winter so they can overclock more while covering themselves in blankets Laughing

The temperature are fine but there is nothing really interesting while the CPU is idling.
Use this to test your system stability and temp.
http://ocbase.com/perestroika_en/

And this one to monitor your temps:
http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

If you ever see your CPU temp going over 80° during the test, stop it and lower your overclocking that your CPU never goes over 75°.
As for the Power/Aux at 119° nothing to care about.

I'd challenge you to an overlock off...but I have an e6300...which is stock 1.86 GHz..... so I'm doomed...

I'd ramble on about Prime95 for 12 hours and random crap like that...but my knowledge of current technology is quite sparse......but if your proc ain't hittin 70c....you need to grow a pair!

I tested it under load, i'm currently at school, when i started crysis wars 10 seconds after it bsoded and i had to clear cmos cuz it wouldn't boot

i haven't even changed the vcore or anything, i just went pushing the fsb up gradually.

Good thing i have a free afternoon today, i'll be toying with it all day, since i don't have anything better to do atm

When you overclock your CPU your ram gets overclocked to .
Look at the speed of your ram it is possible you need to adjust it down a bit.

I say go for it - push it to the max. Don't worry, if it all goes horribly wrong just visit your local internet cafe once a month (or less!) to visit this forum.

nah.

It's at 3.402GHz now, it's the maximum stable without bsods, so i'll use this while it's freezing!

Can't wait to get my hands on one of tem 45nm relics..
I would get a Shangai but i would have to upgrade the motherboard and probaly rams.. so since i'm on socket 775 i'll grab a cheap penryn in a couple of months

yep

I'm waiting for a new one, The computer parts i bought also came with a 250GB HDD, one of which the power supply cant feed, so i'm going to buy one anyway, because the external fans and graphics card took out all of the 4pin molex's. my DVD drive is off.

It's either the DVD drive or the fan. so hell no.

Speaking of news, 3409MHz is the lottery, super stable, on load with OCCT temps are at max 59

wicked

selling at 3€ thats about 3.000.000€ which if you bought power supplies for about 100€, you would get 30.000 power supplies which would be 30.000 times better.

You could put the whole rig outside and make use of the additional wind chill factor Laughing
That way you may be able to squeeze a few more hundred hertz out of the rig and when the rig is on full load, supply the district heating system.
