As far as I am concerned the AR2 is just an uprated smg. Love them or hate them, they are part of the game Sad

The only plus side for me is the combine ball. Used properly, in short bursts,
three or four rounds, it is probably the most effective weapon in the whole of dm. Unfortunately it only seems to be another weapon of spam. Crying or Very sad

Slightly off topic I have been playing Hl Opposing Force over the last two days. There you can see where the AR2 and grav gun came from. Smile

I love the AR2, and i spam the garbage babies out of combine balls. I love it when they all go off and everything is really quiet because im the only one alive. I prefer to use the bullets like shimmy, in a 3 round burst. When aimed carefully, it can be as deadly as the 357.

Its not the weapon itself, or for that matter the smg that's the problem. It is how when it is used. If you end up in a box of inexperienced players and you happen to be the only one with and track record, you become the object of and un-agreed team match. You v the spamers. Evil or Very Mad

One of them has got to get lucky. Sad

(Sometimes you don't even hit the box floor before being turned into a cheese grater)
This is especially frustrating where less enlightened servers reward an inexperienced player, who has just opened his account, with the same points for an ar2 kill is a stick kill. This is not conducive to encouraging better skills at an early stage.

The Pulse Rifle does a lot more damage then the SMG, but has a lot of recoil. The SMG and Pulse Rifle aren't as easy to kill people with as people think, they do require skill, and can be useful weapons from semi-far range if aimed at the head properly.

Well if a weapon can be used, you shouldn't try not to use it. I know the RPG is cheap and stuff, but that's why they restricted it, they should do the same to the SMG if they dislike it so much. The only things I'm really against is camping.

I'm just saying, if people want to complain about it so much they should just restrict it or leave it. It's a weapon, and part of the game.
