[Tutorial] How To : Setting Up A LAN Server Subject description: Incl. Anti-Lag Trick! |

How To Set Up A LAN Server For (32 players)
================================
========================
Step 1 : First open Steam and go to the tools section.
========================
Step 2 : Installing & Opening Source Dedicated Server.
Install & Open SDS.
========================
Step 3 : Running the server.
Use these settings
Game Half-Life 2 Deathmatch
Server Name TSGK 4 LIFE
Map dm_lockdown
Network LAN ( It doesnt matters if you set it to Internet )
Max. Players 32
UDP Port 27015
RCON Password 12345
And now click Start Server.

Step 4 : Loading.
The server is now starting , hold on a minute.
========================
Step 5 : Server Started.
Write down your iP Adress ( Internet Protocol ) , mine is 192.168.1.1027015
========================
Step 6 : Accessing Your Server.
First run the Server Finder.
This screen wil appear :
Now click : Add a server.
Now this will appear :
Now simply type your IP adress and click : Add selected game server to favorites.
You can now play on your server with other people that are connected to the Local Area Connection you have.

NOTE : The following steps are just extra , and just use these steps if you are having these problems.

Step 7 : Unlagging your server.
Quit the game if you openned it and go back to the server GUI.
Now you see couple Tabs , click : Console.
Type the following commands in the console :
sv_minrate 15000
sv_maxrate 25000
decalfrequency 10
sv_maxupdaterate 100
sv_minupdaterate 30
fps_max 301

Thanks for this, I have a few mates that got addict to half life because I showed it to them and I was thinking of organising a little LAN sometime next vacation and this should come in handy as I'm comletely new to this Thanks for your time

nice tut dude!
But , can you do a Tut on how to forward ports so i can Host pplz ? @_@ It gets annoying..Im the only one that hadbest Admin-like Skillz xD Most of my Friends Go... OOOPZ kicked ;P so... i host games Like
DOom3 Open Coop
Hl2dM
Cs:s
Synergy For HL2(hl2coop)
And lots of Others
, cuz we play random Shtufz
Cna any0ne help me ?

yep very nice guide, now all i need is some friends that play hl2dm and a LAN party, or maybe i'll pwnt my little brother again
