My $.02
What I'm hearing is wait until Vista service pack 1 (November?) i think,
and see if this fixes many problems.
I have heard that it IS a resource hog.
Shortly after service pack 1 for Vista is released they will be releasing service pack 3 for XP. I think I will stay with that for awhile. _________________ SEGTech
Microslop themselves all but admitted the first service pack for Vista will not fix most problems that basic users are encountering with this OS. I have tried vista back from the beta and release canidates. I have also installed Vista Ultimate 32 & 64bit, Business, and Home Premium on my pcs. I uninstalled on all but 1. This OS is definitely not ready and like the guy said it is a HUGE resource pig. It is pretty I will give it that much but ready for use? I dont think so. This guy in the video did a nice job summing up all the problems with it. Xp has been in use so long and is finally a stable and nice OS. IMO If you want pretty I suggest Stardock lol. Nice find on the Video

I've had no problems with it but I use my PC for games and MS Office - and that's all. Also my PC is big enough for it.
I do find prettier, it is more secure, and it certainly crashes less than my XP. But if I had a load of programs that I really need working on XP then I wouldn't bother with Vista. So I'm not sure why this guy upgraded. BTW every single new windows OS has been given out about since 3.1. I recall people moaning about the demise of DOS. Viva la vista _________________

I have used just about every operating system.
Then again, I have been involved with computers since 1971.
I have a dual boot machine with Vista on one hard drive. I have not used it yet.
It says a lot when microsoft are offering are offering discs to those who have bought machines with Vista pre installed which allows them to revert to XP.
We are talking a fair bit of time since XP came out. You would think they would have had time to develop a decent stable bug free working system.
Win 95, 98, ME and XP all released so close to each other and we all asked the same question. "Is there any need to upgrade"
Well yes it will become inevitable.
Such are the forces of commerce, sod the customer.

To be fair most of the stuff he is moaning about is not Microsofts faults, the third party support for programs, drivers etc is the manufacturers fault. God his voice is annoying too.
Im currently dual booting between Xp and Vista Ultimate x64, no real differences in terms of speed for me. Only annoying thing so far is no support for 64 bit Vista from iTunes . Like Zog and Diet said people moan about all new operating systems

They're static screenshots. All I can say is that I have simply not felt so much detail in a game before. But Lawitz does no his stuff. He's French you know. _________________

PLaying it on High quality on my machine is similar to Dx10 on Dx9....
So im pretty bumped about this ......ill stick to xp _________________ My Deviantart acc
I have vista (Ultimate 32 - Bit) my system specs are:
Motherboard: IntelD915PSY
Processor: Intel 3.20GHz HT
RAM: 2GB Kingston PC400 (4 - 512MB sticks)
Video: e-VGA Nvidia 8800 GTS 640MB overclocked to 580/1700 driver version 163.75
Hard Drives: 1 - 160 GB Maxtur running XP Pro 32 -Bit
1 - 320 GB Samsung running on Vista 32 -Bit
I will say this, alot of tweaking to make it even playable in some high end games (I know that I have some bottlenecking going on, but in XP, I never see it). Now i turned of the Aero, and the UAC in vista, along with some other tweaks. This handy site (I know its for XP, but some of it still corresponds for vista users too) I also have the latest hotfixes from nvidias site!
I only play single player games in Vista, and Memory usage is up 10% from XP to Vista when idling (even with it tweaked). Until Microsoft comes out with the first SP, I still think gamers should stay on XP for now.
{But for media and video watching, the sounds (better in vista) access to network your 360 or any other computers is amazing and simple for the average user}
And another thing about Microsoft and Bill Gates. For those of you that do not know, Bill has been giving over 80 million dollars a year since 2003 to help fight the cure for Malaria in Africa, the most deadly disease among children. So based on this, about 10% of your money that u spend on Microsoft Products goes to help that cause. I dont know one billionaire that rips us of, but yet helps society in return. For this, I think him and Microsoft should be well accepted, and not shown down a path of disrespect!! _________________

It seems to me it's a horrible operating system. I installed it (obtained it from a box I found while walking down the street) right after it was released and the shiny shiny is whiney whiney IMHO. Half of the programs don't run (but that's the program makers' fault, I know, but still, there must be a reason why no one wants to change their software to vista compliant), the "it can't hang becaus it excists in layers" slogan is not true at all and it uses 500 of my 2000MB's RAM while I'm doing nothing at all (no background programs running, nothing )
Don't get it, obtain xp or '98 from a box on the street. _________________
Oh my gosh, this has been talked about time and time again and very vigorously on my forums and everyone there agrees that Vista is a waste of money. I'd love to post all the reasons why I think it's a waste but I already posted it on my forums and I kind of don't feel like posting it again. Sorry. But, if you want to see what I wrote, you can check out the topic by clicking here.

Here is a link to Windows XP SP3 Beta. I have had it installed for 3 weeks with no problems.
Microsoft literally has it hidden VERY deep in their site. (Almost like they don't want you to find it).
Anyway I know it is just the Beta but according to articles it is 10% faster than SP2 and
almost 50% faster than Vista on same PC. Like I said 3 weeks no problems. But thats me.
Everyone's rig is different and I hope it works for those interested. Good luck.

The improvements in DX 10 are so slight, they STILL do not make Vista anymore palatable.
There is still no reason to upgrade to Vista, no reason at all.
Vista is not even an upgrade and all the folks converting back is proof.
It is NOT more secure, faster, better featured...
There is nothing compelling about Vista whatsoever.
Vista is a lot like the Quad core/ 64 bit canards.
There are still not any games that use Quad and 64 bit has not even become widespread.
I pissed myself laughing. On a side note this I found this while looking for the above video, Mona Lisa painted in 5 minutes (One of them Speed video things) in MS Paint, f'in awsome: -
